The Defence Research and Development Establishment (DRDE), under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has invited applications for eight paid internships in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Engineering. Students pursuing the prescribed postgraduate science or undergraduate engineering courses can apply through Speed Post or email by November 14, 2026.

The temporary internship positions carry a monthly stipend of ₹5,000. Applicants must be Indian citizens, be below 28 years of age on the closing date, and have at least 75% marks or a 7.5 CGPA from an AICTE/UGC-approved institution. A referral or sponsorship letter from the college or university is also required.

Selection will be based on academic qualifications and eligibility screening. DRDE may conduct a telephonic or video-conferencing interaction with shortlisted candidates if required.

Discipline-Wise Internship Positions

Educational Qualification

Biological Sciences — Subject Code 01

Applicants must be pursuing either:

• M.Sc. or an equivalent course in the third or fourth semester; or
• B.Tech in the seventh or eighth semester.

Eligible fields include Biotechnology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Toxicology and Immunology.

Chemical Sciences — Subject Code 02

Candidates must be pursuing M.Sc. or an equivalent qualification in the third or fourth semester in Organic, Inorganic or Analytical Chemistry.

Engineering — Subject Code 03

Applicants must be pursuing B.E./B.Tech in the seventh or eighth semester in one of the following disciplines:

• Electronics
• Mechanical Engineering
• Information Technology
• Computer Science

Common Eligibility Requirements

Candidates across all three disciplines must:

• Be Indian citizens.
• Have at least 75% marks or a 7.5 CGPA.
• Study at an AICTE/UGC-approved college or university.
• Obtain a referral or sponsorship letter from their institution.

Age Limit and Stipend

Applicants must be below 28 years of age as on November 14, 2026.

The monthly stipend is ₹5,000 for each internship discipline. Candidates should check the detailed notification for the internship duration and stipend payment conditions.

Selection Procedure

Applications will be shortlisted according to academic qualifications and the prescribed eligibility requirements. A telephonic or video-conferencing interaction may be arranged where necessary.

No travelling allowance or daily allowance will be paid for joining or participating in the interaction. The internship does not provide an entitlement to subsequent employment or absorption in DRDO.
