State Bank of India (SBI) has opened applications for six Specialist Cadre Officer positions covering artificial intelligence leadership, risk analytics, governance, data engineering and architecture. Candidates can apply online from October 19 to November 9, 2026, under Advertisement No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/30.

The recruitment includes one GM & Chief AI Officer, three Deputy General Manager positions and two AI Architect roles. Applicants require relevant higher qualifications, professional expertise and between eight and 15 years of experience, depending on the position.

Appointments will be contractual for an initial three years, renewable up to a total tenure of five years. Candidates may apply for only one post. Selection will be based on shortlisting and interview, followed by individual compensation negotiations.

SBI Specialist Cadre Officers Recruitment 2026 Notification

SBI’s Central Recruitment & Promotion Department is conducting the recruitment for senior AI and technology professionals. The positions cover both strategic leadership and specialist responsibilities in developing, governing and deploying AI systems.

Educational Qualification and Experience

GM & Chief AI Officer

The qualification fields listed for this position include B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering or equivalent; M.Sc./M.A. in Statistics or Computer Science; M.Stat.; and MCA.

MBA/PGDM in Finance and certifications in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or Natural Language Processing are also listed. Candidates should confirm the exact essential and desirable qualification combinations in the detailed notification.

Applicants need at least 15 years of experience in banking, BFSI or IT, including three years in senior leadership.

Deputy General Manager Positions

The three DGM positions carry the same listed basic qualification fields as the Chief AI Officer role. Each requires at least 10 years of banking, BFSI or IT experience, including two years in senior leadership.

Candidates must meet the role-specific requirements for:

• Risk and Operational Analytics.
• AI Governance and Compliance.
• Data Engineering, Model Application Development and AI Ops.

AI Solution Architect

Applicants require a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or Business Administration, along with an AI Solution Architecture certification.

At least eight years of overall experience is required, including three years in AI/analytics solutioning and digital transformation.

Enterprise AI Architect

Candidates require a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science or Artificial Intelligence, along with TOGAF and AI Architecture certifications.

The experience requirement is at least eight years in technology, including three years in enterprise, platform or AI architecture.

Selection Process

SBI will shortlist applicants according to eligibility and screening parameters determined by the bank.

The interview carries 100 marks. Candidates for the GM & Chief AI Officer and all three DGM positions must also deliver a 10-minute presentation. SBI will determine the qualifying interview marks.

CTC negotiation will take place individually during the interview or subsequently. Final merit will be based on interview scores, with older candidates receiving preference where scores are tied.

No travelling allowance or daily allowance will be paid for attending the interview.

Remuneration and Contract Terms

Compensation will be negotiated individually. Candidates should confirm the applicable annual CTC limits and compensation structure in the detailed notification before applying.

The initial engagement is for three years, with renewal possible up to a total of five years.
