Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, has announced 250 Deputy Field Officer (Technical) vacancies under Advertisement No. 02/2026. Eligible Indian nationals with the prescribed engineering or science qualifications and a valid GATE score must submit their applications by ordinary post so that they arrive by November 15, 2026.

Computer Science/Information Technology and Electronics/Communication/Telecommunication account for 112 vacancies each. The remaining positions cover Data Science/Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics.

Candidates will be shortlisted using their GATE scores in the corresponding subject, followed by an interview and verification stages. The posts carry Pay Level 7 and all-India transfer liability.

Vacancy Details

Educational Qualification and GATE Eligibility

Applicants must hold a BE/B.Tech in the relevant discipline from a recognised university or institution, or a master’s degree in Science in one of the subjects specified in the notification.

A valid GATE score from 2024, 2025 or 2026 is also required in the corresponding paper. Candidates must check that their qualification and GATE subject match the requirements for the discipline they select.

Only Indian nationals meeting the other prescribed eligibility conditions may apply.

Age Limit

The maximum age is 30 years as on November 15, 2026. Relaxation for SC/ST, OBC and other eligible categories will apply under Government of India rules.

Selection Process

Shortlisting will be based on valid GATE scores in the relevant subject. Shortlisted candidates will then undergo a personal interview and document verification.

Character and antecedent verification and a medical examination will also apply as prescribed. Applicants should retain their original qualification certificates, GATE scorecard and other supporting documents for verification.

Pay Level and Posting
