Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has opened applications for 20 Trade Apprentice positions under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961. The vacancies are available in five ITI trades under the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Department, with four positions each for Welder, Electrician, Fitter, Motor Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) and Electronics Mechanic.

Online applications for the Visakhapatnam Port Authority Apprentice Recruitment 2026 started on August 24 and will remain open until September 23, 2026. Candidates must apply through the NAPS Apprenticeship India portal and hold an ITI qualification in the relevant trade.

The apprenticeship will run for one year at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Selection does not involve a written examination or interview and will instead be based on candidates’ aggregate ITI marks, followed by certificate verification.

The 20 vacancies are distributed equally across five designated trades.

All five trades have a training duration of one year.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed ITI in the relevant trade from a recognized institute.

Candidates should select only the designated trade corresponding to their ITI qualification while applying through the apprenticeship portal.

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 14 years old as on August 31, 2026.

VPA Trade Apprentice Stipend

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend during the one-year apprenticeship period.

The stipend will be paid during apprenticeship training according to the applicable norms.

One-Year Apprenticeship Training

All 20 selected candidates will undergo apprenticeship training for one year under the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Department of Visakhapatnam Port Authority.

The engagement is intended for training under the Apprenticeship Act and should not be treated as regular employment with VPA.

No boarding or lodging will be provided to apprentices during the training period.

Selection Process

There will be no written examination or interview for VPA Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026.

Selection will primarily be based on the aggregate marks secured by candidates in their ITI qualification.

The selection stages are:

1. Preparation of merit based on ITI marks
2. Shortlisting of candidates
3. Certificate Verification
4. Trade allotment by the Head of Department
5. Final apprenticeship engagement

No TA/DA will be paid to candidates attending certificate verification.
