UPSSSC PET 2026 Deadline Extended; Candidates Can Apply Online Until September 7

  • UPSSSC is accepting online applications for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026 under Advertisement No. 16-Pariksha/2026, with the registration and fee payment deadline set for September 7.
  • Candidates who have passed Class 10 or an equivalent examination and meet the prescribed 18–40 years age requirement can apply after completing mandatory One Time Registration (OTR).
  • PET 2026 will carry 100 questions for 100 marks with a two-hour duration and ¼-mark negative marking; the PET score will remain valid for three years.

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) is accepting applications for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026, with candidates required to complete online registration and fee payment by September 7, 2026. PET serves as the qualifying examination used for shortlisting candidates for various Group B and Group C recruitment examinations conducted by UPSSSC.

UPSSC PET Date Extended

The UPSSSC PET 2026 notification was issued on August 1 under Advertisement No. 16-Pariksha/2026, while online applications opened on August 3. Candidates who have passed High School/Class 10 or an equivalent examination can apply, subject to the prescribed eligibility requirements. Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years of age as on July 1, 2026, with relaxation available according to applicable rules.

Unlike a post-specific recruitment advertisement, PET does not itself announce a fixed number of vacancies. Candidates obtaining a valid PET score can subsequently be shortlisted for post-specific Main examinations as vacancies are advertised by UPSSSC. The PET 2026 score will remain valid for three years from the date the result is declared or uploaded.

Qualification and Age Limit

Candidates must have passed High School/Class 10 or an equivalent examination to apply for UPSSSC PET 2026.

The prescribed age range is 18 to 40 years, calculated as on July 1, 2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to eligible categories according to applicable rules.

PET is a preliminary eligibility examination rather than recruitment for a particular post. Therefore, candidates qualifying PET will still need to meet the educational, age and other eligibility requirements prescribed for each subsequent UPSSSC recruitment.

Payment can be made online using Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI or SBI e-Challan.

One Time Registration Required Before PET Application

Candidates must complete UPSSSC One Time Registration before applying for PET 2026. The OTR facility has been available since July 14, 2026.

After OTR, candidates can use their registered details to access the PET application. Applicants should carefully verify their personal information before generating the PET registration number because editing options become restricted at later stages.

Candidates who completed OTR using their PET-2025 registration number cannot subsequently change their name, date of birth or mobile number through OTR, while other permitted details can be edited. For new OTR registrations, the registered mobile number cannot subsequently be changed, though other editable information may be updated.

Once the PET-2026 registration number has been generated, candidates cannot edit their OTR or application details. Applicants should therefore review all information before final submission.

UPSSSC PET 2026 Exam Pattern

PET 2026 will consist of 100 objective-type questions carrying a total of 100 marks. Candidates will have two hours to complete the examination.

A penalty of one-fourth mark will apply for each incorrect answer.

PET Score and Subsequent Recruitment

Qualifying or obtaining a score in PET does not itself result in appointment to a government post.

UPSSSC uses PET scores to shortlist candidates when it subsequently advertises eligible Group B and Group C vacancies. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their PET performance may then be required to appear for the relevant post-specific Main examination and subsequent recruitment stages.

The PET 2026 score will remain valid for three years from the date its result is declared or uploaded on the UPSSSC website.
