TNPSC CTSE Recruitment 2026 Announced for 170 Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Research Assistant and Other, Apply by October 6

• TNPSC has announced 170 vacancies across 31 posts through the Combined Technical Services Examination (Interview Posts).

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has announced 170 vacancies across 31 technical, professional and managerial posts through the Combined Technical Services Examination (Interview Posts) 2026. The recruitment covers positions in Tamil Nadu Government departments as well as state public sector organizations, with Veterinary Assistant Surgeon accounting for the largest share at 79 vacancies.

TNPSC Notification No. 8/2026 was issued on August 31, 2026, while online applications are scheduled to open on September 7. Candidates can submit applications through the TNPSC examination portal until 11:59 PM on October 6, 2026. Qualifications and experience vary considerably between posts, and selection will involve a written examination followed by an Interview.

The TNPSC Combined Technical Services Examination (Interview Posts) is being conducted to fill 170 positions in departments and organizations covering animal husbandry, statistics, industries, public health, libraries, town planning, textiles, prisons, maritime administration and state industrial corporations.

Veterinary Assistant Surgeon is the largest recruitment category with 79 vacancies. Other sizeable groups include Senior Entomologist with 13 positions and Senior Officer (Technical) with 10.

TNPSC CTSE Application Fee

Candidates who have not previously completed a valid TNPSC One Time Registration will need to pay the OTR fee. One Time Registration remains valid for five years.

The examination fee is charged according to the number of subject papers selected.

Eligible candidates can claim fee exemption according to the conditions prescribed by TNPSC.

The examination fee is non-refundable, including where a selected subject paper is subsequently withdrawn.

Age Limit

The minimum age for the recruitment is generally 21 years as on July 1, 2026.

The maximum permissible age is not uniform across all 31 posts and varies according to the position and candidate category. For certain posts/categories, the applicable upper age can extend up to 60 years.

Candidates should therefore check the age requirement corresponding specifically to the post code for which they intend to apply.

Age relaxation and other concessions will apply according to the conditions prescribed for eligible categories.

TNPSC CTSE Exam Pattern 2026

The written examination includes Paper I and the applicable subject paper under Paper II.

Paper I

Paper I consists of three parts:

Part A is qualifying in nature. Candidates must obtain at least 40%, or 60 marks, in the Tamil Eligibility Test.

Parts B and C of Paper I and Paper II will be evaluated only when the candidate qualifies in Part A.

Paper II

Paper II is the subject paper related to the candidate’s selected technical or professional post.

Candidates must select only those subject papers for which they possess the prescribed educational or technical qualification.

TNPSC CTSE Selection Process

The Combined Technical Services Examination for these posts includes both written assessment and an Interview.

The selection stages are:

1. Written Examination – Paper I
2. Written Examination – Paper II / Subject Paper
3. Certificate Verification, as applicable
4. Interview
5. Final Merit List

The Interview carries a maximum of 60 marks and assesses areas including personality, general knowledge and technical knowledge.

Final ranking will be based on marks counted from Paper I Parts B and C, Paper II and the Interview, with a stated maximum aggregate of 510 marks.

Important Dates

Candidates will have about one month to complete the online application after registration begins.

Applicants who need to make permitted changes after submission can use the designated correction window. No changes will be allowed after the correction period closes.

Pay Levels

Pay varies considerably because the examination combines posts from different Tamil Nadu Government departments and state organizations.

The Port Officer position carries Level-30, while Unit Head – Deputy General Manager Cadre carries Level-28 (EPF). Assistant General Manager (Finance) is placed at Level-27, and several Deputy Manager and Financial Advisor positions are at Level-25.

A substantial number of vacancies, including Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Research Assistant, Assistant Director of Statistics, English Reporter, Tamil Reporter, Senior Entomologist, District Library Officer and several Assistant Manager positions, carry Level-22.
