TNERC Recruitment 2025: Apply for Electricity Ombudsman Post in Chennai
The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC), Chennai, has released an official notification dated 22nd September 2025 inviting applications for the post of Electricity Ombudsman. The appointment is being made under the Regulations for Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum and Electricity Ombudsman 2004. The Electricity Ombudsman will be responsible for handling appeals against orders of the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF) of Distribution Licensees and carrying out functions as per the Commission’s regulations. The last date for receipt of applications is 7th October 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
Education
- Candidates must have qualifications and relevant experience in the electricity sector.
- Additional preference for those with experience in distribution utility wings and knowledge of law.
Salary
- Remuneration will be fixed as Last Pay Drawn minus Pension as per Tamil Nadu Pension Rules, 1978.
- Additional allowances applicable to the post will be provided.
Age Limit (as on 22.09.2025)
- Minimum: 50 years
- Maximum: 62 years
- Tenure: Up to 3 years, extendable by another 3 years, subject to maximum age of 65 years.
