Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), IISCO Steel Plant (ISP), Burnpur has announced recruitment for 200 Trade Apprentices in West Bengal. The apprenticeship intake covers nine trades, including Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Machinist, Turner, Refrigeration & AC and Mechanic-Motor Vehicle.

Online applications for SAIL ISP Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026 will be accepted through the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal from September 28 to October 7, 2026. Candidates must have completed ITI in the relevant trade and should be at least 18 years old as on September 28, 2026.

The apprenticeship will run for one year, with selected candidates receiving a monthly lump-sum stipend ranging from ₹9,600 to ₹10,560. Selection will be prepared on the basis of ITI marks within the applicable trade and category, without a written examination or interview being specified.

SAIL ISP Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026

The latest apprenticeship intake is being conducted for SAIL’s IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur in West Bengal. Of the 200 available seats, the largest allocation is for Welder with 70 vacancies, followed by Electrician and Fitter with 30 vacancies each.

Trade-Wise Vacancy Details

Welder accounts for 70 of the 200 apprenticeship seats, making it the largest trade in the 2026 intake.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed ITI in the relevant trade for which they are applying.

Applicants should ensure that their ITI qualification corresponds to the apprenticeship trade listed by SAIL-IISCO Steel Plant on the NAPS portal.

Candidates who already hold a contract ID under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 after undergoing apprenticeship training with another organization are not eligible under the stated conditions.

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age as on September 28, 2026.

SAIL ISP Apprentice Stipend

Selected Trade Apprentices will receive a lump-sum monthly stipend ranging from ₹9,600 to ₹10,560.

The amount is an apprenticeship stipend rather than a regular SAIL salary or 7th CPC pay scale. Apprentices will also be responsible for arranging their own accommodation.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on the marks obtained in ITI within the candidate’s respective trade and category.

If two or more candidates have the same aggregate marks, the older candidate will receive preference in the merit order.

No TA/DA will be paid in connection with the selection process.

Apprenticeship Duration and Employment Conditions

The duration of Trade Apprenticeship training will be one year from the creation of the apprenticeship contract.

The contract will automatically end after completion of the prescribed training period. Apprenticeship at IISCO Steel Plant does not confer a right to regular employment with SAIL.

Selected candidates will be required to provide a notarized undertaking confirming that they will not claim employment on the basis of the apprenticeship training.
