Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has announced recruitment for 83 regular administrative and technical positions. Online applications will open on November 1, 2026, at 11 AM and close on November 30, 2026, at 5 PM. The same deadline applies to fee payment.

The recruitment includes 30 Technical Assistant and 41 Technician vacancies, alongside seven Junior Personal Assistant positions and five officer-level posts. Qualifications range from Matriculation with a relevant trade qualification to diplomas, science degrees and graduate or postgraduate qualifications with professional experience.

Appointments will initially be based at SCL in S.A.S. Nagar, Punjab, although employees may be posted anywhere in India as required. Selection will involve a Computer Based Test followed by a qualifying skill test or personal interview, depending on the post.

Technical Assistant disciplines include Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science, Information Technology, Civil, Chemical, Fire and Safety, Physics and Chemistry.

Technician trades include Fitter, ICT System Maintenance, Electrician, Electronics, Electronics Mechanic, Instrumentation, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Civil and Mechanical Draughtsman, Fire and Safety, Plumber and Diesel Mechanic.

Educational Qualification and Experience

Administrative Officer, Accounts Officer and Purchase and Stores Officer

Candidates must possess the relevant graduate degree, postgraduate degree or MBA qualification for the respective domain, such as HR, Finance or Materials Management.

The prescribed supervisory-level post-qualification experience is:

Knowledge of government rules and regulations is required. Candidates must check the exact qualification and domain requirements for their chosen officer post.

Junior Personal Assistant

Applicants must have passed Class 12 and meet the following stenography requirements:

• Dictation for 10 minutes at 80 words per minute.
• Computer transcription within 50 minutes in English or 65 minutes in Hindi.

Technical Assistant

Candidates must possess a first-class, three-year full-time diploma in the relevant discipline or an eligible first-class B.Sc. qualification, as prescribed for the post.

Two years of post-qualification experience in a research and development institute, reputed organization or industry is required.

Technician

Applicants must have passed Matriculation or SSLC and possess the prescribed two-year NCVT ITI qualification, National Apprenticeship Certificate or National Trade Certificate in the relevant trade.

Two years of post-qualification experience is also required. Experience must have been gained after obtaining the essential educational qualification.

Age Limit

Age will be calculated as on November 30, 2026. Relaxation applies to eligible SC, ST, OBC Non-Creamy Layer, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and serving employees of autonomous societies under MeitY, in accordance with applicable rules.

Pay and Allowances

Admissible benefits include Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance and House Rent Allowance where SCL housing is not provided. Other facilities include medical benefits, a subsidized canteen, Children Education Allowance, Group Insurance and Leave Travel Concession. Employees will be covered under the National Pension System.

Examination Fee and Refund Conditions

The total includes a non-refundable processing fee of ₹600. Eligible Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates who appear in the CBT can receive a refund of the application-fee component. The processing fee will remain non-refundable.

Payment must be made online. Candidates must enter correct bank account details for any applicable refund.

Selection Process

Officer Posts

Administrative Officer, Accounts Officer and Purchase and Stores Officer candidates will undergo a CBT and personal interview, carrying weightages of 60% and 40%, respectively. Interview shortlisting will be in a ratio of 1:5.

Junior Personal Assistant

Selection will comprise a CBT and qualifying stenography skill test. Final selection will be based on CBT marks, subject to passing the skill test.

Technical Assistant and Technician

Candidates will take a CBT followed by a trade-specific skill test assessed on a qualifying, go/no-go basis. Shortlisting for the skill test will be in a ratio of 1:5, and final merit will depend on CBT marks among candidates who qualify.

The CBT will carry negative marking of 0.25 mark for each incorrect answer. It will be conducted in metropolitan cities, while skill tests and interviews will take place in S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali, or Chandigarh.
