Southern Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Notice Out for 67 Sports Person Vacancies, Apply Online by October 25

Southern Railway, through the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Chennai, has announced Sports Quota Recruitment 2026-27 for 67 vacancies across Pay Levels 1 to 5. The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement No. RRC-02/Sports/2026-27 for eligible sportspersons seeking appointment in Southern Railway.

Online registration for Southern Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 will open at 9:00 AM on September 26 and close at 11:59 PM on October 25, 2026. Of the 67 vacancies, 46 are at Pay Level 1, 16 are at Levels 2/3 and five are at Levels 4/5.

Educational requirements range from 10th/ITI to Graduation depending on the level of appointment. Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years as on January 1, 2027. Selection will give major weight to performance in sports trials and recognized sports achievements, followed by document verification and medical examination.

Vacancy and Pay Level Details

The largest share of vacancies is at Pay Level 1, where 46 positions have been notified. Another 16 vacancies are available at Levels 2 and 3, while five positions are available at the higher Levels 4 and 5.

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age as on January 1, 2027.

The stated date-of-birth range is from January 2, 2002 to January 1, 2009.

Educational Qualification

The minimum academic qualification varies according to the pay level.

Pay Level 5 / Level 4

Candidates applying for Sports Person vacancies at Levels 5 and 4 must possess a Graduation degree from a recognized university.

Pay Level 3 / Level 2

Candidates require either:

• 12th Pass; or
• 10th Pass with ITI/Apprenticeship.

Pay Level 1

Applicants must have passed 10th or possess an ITI qualification.

Candidates must also satisfy the prescribed sports eligibility for the discipline and level against which they are applying.

Southern Railway Sports Quota Selection Process

Selection places significant emphasis on the candidate’s sporting ability and recognized achievements.

The assessment is divided into the following components:

Sports Trials

Candidates will be assessed on game skills, physical fitness and the coach’s observations during the trials. This component carries up to 40 marks.

Sports Achievements

Recognized sports achievements supported by valid certificates and records carry up to 50 marks.

Educational Qualification

The prescribed educational qualification carries up to 10 marks in the assessment.

Candidates will subsequently undergo verification of original documents and a medical examination according to the applicable standards.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending sports trials or other stages of the recruitment process.

Application Fee

The application fee varies according to category.

The fee is refundable as specified in the recruitment notification, subject to fulfillment of the applicable conditions.
