South Central Railway Recruitment 2026 Notice Out for 33 Nursing, Health Inspector and Ticket Clerk Vacancies Through GDCE

• South Central Railway has opened GDCE applications for 33 Nursing Superintendent, Health & Malaria Inspector Grade-II and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk posts.

Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), South Central Railway has announced 33 departmental vacancies through the General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) under Notification No. RRC/SCR/GDCE-02/2026. The recruitment covers Nursing Superintendent, Health & Malaria Inspector Grade-II and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk positions, with online applications open until 11:59 PM on October 17, 2026.

This is an internal railway recruitment and is intended for eligible serving regular employees of South Central Railway rather than candidates from the open market. Of the 33 vacancies, 16 are for Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, 14 for Nursing Superintendent and three for Health & Malaria Inspector Grade-II.

The posts carry Pay Levels 3, 6 and 7 under the 7th CPC. Selection will be through a single-stage Computer Based Test followed by document verification and the prescribed medical examination. No interview is included in the stated selection procedure.

SCR GDCE Vacancy Details

The recruitment covers two Medical Department posts and one Commercial Department post.

One Nursing Superintendent vacancy is indicated as suitable for the specified locomotor disability category. The notified vacancy figures are provisional and may be revised according to South Central Railway requirements.

Who Can Apply for SCR GDCE 2026?

The South Central Railway GDCE is not a direct recruitment exercise for the general public.

Only eligible serving regular/permanent employees of South Central Railway, excluding RPF/RPSF personnel, can apply subject to the conditions prescribed in the notification. Applicants must be working against substantive posts and satisfy the applicable pay-level and departmental eligibility requirements.

Employees cannot apply for the same post that they currently hold. Candidates are also required to remain within the South Central Railway zone during the selection process as prescribed under the GDCE conditions.

Post-wise Qualification

Nursing Superintendent

Candidates need General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution, subject to the qualifications and concessions prescribed under the applicable Indian Nursing Council provisions.

The prescribed medical classification is C1.

Health & Malaria Inspector Grade-II

Applicants should possess B.Sc. with Chemistry along with the prescribed one-year Diploma or National Trade Certificate in Health/Sanitary Inspector discipline.

The medical classification for this post is C1.

Commercial cum Ticket Clerk

Candidates should have passed Class 12 or equivalent with at least 50% marks. The stated 50% requirement is relaxed for applicable SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen candidates under the recruitment conditions.

The prescribed medical classification is B2.

Age Limit as on January 1, 2027

OBC-NCL applicants are required to produce a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued after April 1, 2026, as specified for the recruitment.

Selection Process

South Central Railway will conduct a single-stage Computer Based Test for the notified GDCE posts. Candidates qualifying under the applicable merit and eligibility requirements will subsequently be called for document verification and medical examination.

There is no interview.

The CBT will have negative marking, with one-third of the marks assigned to a question deducted for each incorrect answer.

The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for UR, 30% for OBC, 30% for SC and 25% for ST candidates. A relaxation of two percentage points may apply to PwBD candidates where permitted under the recruitment conditions.

The examination can be taken in English, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi or Urdu.

CBT Pattern for Nursing Superintendent and Health Inspector

The Nursing Superintendent and Health & Malaria Inspector Grade-II examination will contain 100 questions for 100 marks.

The test duration is 90 minutes. Eligible PwBD candidates using a scribe will be allowed 120 minutes.

Commercial cum Ticket Clerk CBT Pattern

The Commercial cum Ticket Clerk CBT will be conducted for 120 minutes, with the prescribed negative marking applicable to incorrect answers.

3. Complete registration using an active mobile number and email address.
4. Fill in the online application with employment, educational and other required details.
5. Candidates eligible for more than one notified category should follow the instructions for indicating the applicable post preferences in the application.
6. Upload the required photograph, signature and supporting certificates in the prescribed format.

8. Complete the online application no later than 11:59 PM on October 17, 2026.
