State Bank of India (SBI) has invited online applications for 35 Trade Finance Officer (TFO-IBG) positions under its Specialist Cadre Officer recruitment for 2026. The vacancies are divided between Junior Management Grade Scale I (JMGS I) and Middle Management Grade Scale II (MMGS II), with suggested places of posting at Hyderabad and Kolkata.

The recruitment is aimed at experienced banking professionals working in Trade Finance processing and operations. Of the 35 advertised vacancies, 14 are available in JMGS I and 21 in MMGS II. Category-wise distribution has also been provided for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and unreserved candidates.

SBI Trade Finance Officer Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet both the educational qualification and relevant banking experience requirements for the grade they wish to apply for.

Educational Qualification

Applicants must hold a graduate degree in any discipline from a university or institution recognised by the Government.

Candidates must additionally possess Certification in Forex Operations issued by the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF). The certificate must be dated on or before July 31, 2026.

Additional preferred professional certifications include:

  • Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS) from LIBF
  • Certificate for Specialists in Demand Guarantees (CSDG) from LIBF
  • Certified Trade Finance Professional (CTFP) from ICC Academy
  • Global Trade Certificate (GTC) from ICC Academy
  • Certificate in International Trade Finance (CITF) from LIBF
  • Certificate in International Trade Finance from IIBF

These are preferred qualifications and are separate from the mandatory IIBF Certification in Forex Operations.

Experience Required

The required post-qualification experience differs between the two grades.

Any category-wise relaxation in the upper age limit will be governed by the provisions specified in the SBI recruitment advertisement.

SBI Trade Finance Officer Selection Process

SBI will select candidates through shortlisting followed by an interview. No written examination has been specified for this recruitment.

Meeting the minimum qualification and experience requirements does not automatically entitle an applicant to an interview. SBI will shortlist candidates based on the prescribed parameters, including their qualifications and professional experience.

The interview will carry 100 marks. SBI will decide the qualifying marks for the interview.

The final merit list will be prepared in descending order of interview scores. Where two or more candidates secure the same cut-off score, they will be ranked according to age in descending order, giving preference to the older candidate.

SBI Trade Finance Officer Salary

The two positions carry different SBI officer pay scales according to their respective grades.

The probation period is six months.

In addition to basic pay, appointed officers will be eligible for applicable benefits and allowances such as DA, HRA, CCA, Provident Fund/NPS, Leave Fare Concession, medical facilities and other benefits according to SBI rules.
