Qualification and Experience

Eligibility differs significantly according to the position. Candidates applying for DGM posts generally need 11 years of post-qualification experience, including substantial experience in the relevant specialist field.

DGM (Long-span Bridges) requires B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering with M.E./M.Tech in Structural Engineering and relevant experience in detailed design of cable-stayed or suspension bridges. DGM Railway Alignment Designer and Tunnel Engineer positions require Civil Engineering qualifications with relevant experience, while the Geophysicist position requires B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Geophysics.

Manager positions generally require at least five years of post-qualification experience, including relevant specialist experience. Assistant Manager positions under the 33-post recruitment generally require two years of relevant post-qualification experience.

For the Ports & Waterways recruitment, Senior Manager requires B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering with a relevant master’s qualification in Marine Engineering & Management, Ocean Structures or Structural Engineering and eight years of experience. Assistant Manager posts require Civil Engineering plus the prescribed relevant postgraduate qualification and two years of experience.

Individual Consultant qualifications vary by specialization. Most positions require Civil Engineering or related engineering qualifications, while Senior Geologist requires a master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology. Survey Engineer requires a Diploma in Civil or Survey Engineering, with graduation in the relevant field listed as a preference.

Age Limit

Selection Process

The five Senior Manager/Assistant Manager positions in Ports, Waterways and Coastal Modelling follow a Written Test, document scrutiny and Interview process, with final merit based on 60% written test and 40% interview.
