Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh has announced recruitment for 60 Group A, B and C posts at PGIMER Chandigarh and PGI Satellite Centre, Sangrur. The vacancies include Medical Officer, Computer Programmer, Pharmacist Grade-II, Library Attendant Grade-I, Animal Attendant, Barber and Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III.

Advertisement No. PGI/RC/053/2026/2192 includes 54 vacancies for Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III, accounting for most of the recruitment, along with one vacancy each for the other six posts. Candidates can apply online until October 19, 2026.

The posts carry Pay Levels 1 to 10, with stated pay scales ranging from ₹18,000–56,900 for Animal Attendant, Barber and MTS (Sanitation) to ₹56,100–1,77,500 for Medical Officer. Selection will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT), with an additional interview for the Group A Medical Officer post.

The recruitment includes seven different post categories. Of the 60 total vacancies, 54 are for Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III.

Educational Qualification

Educational requirements vary significantly across the seven posts. Matriculation is sufficient for some Group C positions, while technical, graduate, postgraduate or medical qualifications are required for higher-level posts.

Age Limit

The prescribed age is 18 to 30 years for most posts. Computer Programmer has a higher upper age limit of 35 years.

Selection Process

All posts included in PGIMER Recruitment 2026 will have an online Computer Based Test. The subsequent process differs according to the group and position.

For the Group A Medical Officer post, candidates qualifying through the CBT will proceed to an interview. For the Group B and Group C posts, selection is based on CBT performance according to the stated recruitment procedure.

The minimum qualifying criteria are 40% for General and EWS candidates and 35% for SC, ST and OBC candidates. For PwBD applicants, the qualifying standard will correspond to their respective category.

Where shortlisting is required, the stated ratio is three times the number of vacancies plus tied candidates for posts without a skill test. For posts involving a skill test, the ratio is five times the number of vacancies plus ties.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the applicable selection proceedings.

Documents Required

Candidates should keep their Matriculation certificate or birth certificate ready as proof of date of birth. Educational degree, diploma and consolidated marksheets applicable to the selected post will also be required.

Applicants claiming professional experience should possess valid experience certificates issued on the appropriate official letterhead. Candidates seeking reservation or relaxation should have valid category certificates in the prescribed Central Government format.

Recent passport-size photographs and valid photo identification such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID or PAN should also be kept available. Candidates should retain a printout of the submitted online application for subsequent recruitment stages.
