Educational Qualification and Research Experience
Applicants must satisfy the qualification, research experience and publication requirements prescribed for the level concerned.
Scientist ‘D’
Candidates require a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline along with five years of R&D experience and five publications.
Scientist ‘C’
A Ph.D. in the relevant field is required along with three years of R&D experience and three publications.
Scientist ‘B’
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or a First Class Master’s Degree in the relevant field along with the prescribed publication requirements. Two publications are required.

Age Limit
The upper age limit differs between Scientist ‘D’ and the other two levels.

The application fee is non-refundable and will not be adjusted under any circumstances.
NIF Scientist Selection Process
Applications will initially be scrutinised by a Screening-cum-Shortlisting Committee. NIF may use appropriate shortlisting criteria to restrict the number of applicants called for subsequent stages.
A written test may be conducted if considered necessary. NIF can conduct the examination directly or through a Central Government agency or another organisation having the required expertise.
Final selection will be made on the recommendations of the Selection Committee, taking into consideration the candidate’s interview performance, academic record, research contributions and relevant experience.
A reserve panel will also be prepared and will remain valid for one year from its approval for filling the advertised and subsequent vacancies.

Important Instructions for Applicants
Experience gained while pursuing a full-time degree will not be treated as professional experience for meeting the recruitment requirements. Candidates claiming OBC reservation must provide the prescribed certificate meeting the applicable validity and creamy-layer requirements.
NIF will not provide TA/DA or accommodation for attending the test or interview. Any addendum, corrigendum or further recruitment update will be published through the NIF website.
