North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has announced a major Guest Faculty recruitment drive for 2026, offering 107 temporary teaching positions across its Shillong and Tura campuses in Meghalaya. The vacancies span 43 departments under eight Schools and cover disciplines ranging from management, education and humanities to life sciences, social sciences, technology and engineering.
The recruitment has been issued under Advertisement No. F.No.8-2/Estt.II(B)/GL/Advertisement/2026-3. Applications are being accepted online only, and candidates must complete the process through the NEHU Samarth portal by August 31, 2026. Eligibility will be determined under the applicable UGC Regulations, 2018 or the latest AICTE regulations, along with department-specific specialization requirements.
Guest Faculty selected under the recruitment will be engaged purely on a temporary basis for the current semester or until a regular faculty member joins, whichever occurs earlier. Remuneration is fixed at ₹1,500 per lecture, capped at ₹50,000 per month.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy the academic qualifications prescribed under UGC Regulations, 2018 or the latest AICTE regulations, depending on the department and discipline.
Applicants must also meet any specialization, professional qualification or experience requirements specifically mentioned against the department concerned.
For Architecture positions, the notification prescribes combinations including B.Arch with the required marks and experience, B.Arch with a Master’s qualification in Architecture or allied subjects, or BE Civil Engineering with a Master’s in Structural Design, depending on the relevant eligibility route.
No specific upper age limit has been stated.
Remuneration
Selected Guest Faculty will be paid ₹1,500 per lecture, subject to a ceiling of ₹50,000 per month.
No additional emoluments such as allowances, medical reimbursement or vacation salary will be admissible.
The engagement also does not carry permanent service benefits such as pension or gratuity.

Selection Process
Selection will be made through an interview conducted by the concerned department.
There is no written examination.
NEHU may shortlist candidates before the interview, and merely meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee that an applicant will be called.
For candidates located outside the region, the interview may be conducted online at the discretion of the department.
No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Terms of Engagement
The appointment is purely temporary and applies only for the current semester or until a regular faculty member joins, whichever is earlier.
Guest Faculty will not be entitled to regular employee benefits, including pension, gratuity, medical reimbursement or vacation salary.
Candidates should also note that selection does not create any right to permanent appointment at NEHU.
