Nalanda University, Rajgir has invited online applications for 19 teaching faculty positions across Buddhist Studies, Hindu Studies, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Data Science and AI, and Science, Technology & Policy Studies. The recruitment covers Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor posts, with the online application process open until September 15, 2026.

The Nalanda University Recruitment 2026 notification was issued on August 22, 2026. Candidates applying for the faculty positions should possess a Ph.D. in the concerned or allied discipline, a strong academic record with at least 60% marks at the Master’s level, and the prescribed teaching, research and publication experience for the respective post.

The university has announced annual remuneration in US dollars, ranging from USD 15,000–25,000 for Assistant Professors to USD 30,000–45,000 for Professors. Candidates applying for more than one post must submit separate applications and pay the Rs. 500 fee for each position.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have a consistently good academic record with a Ph.D. in the concerned or allied discipline and at least 60% marks or equivalent at the Master’s degree level.

Post-specific expectations relating to teaching, research, publications and academic experience vary by position.

Professor

Candidates should have an outstanding academic record with at least 60% marks at Master’s level and a Ph.D. or post-doctoral research background in the relevant discipline.

Applicants should have around 3–7 years of experience as Associate Professor or equivalent, along with a strong research profile. A publication record of around 10 peer-reviewed papers is preferred.

Associate Professor

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or have relevant post-doctoral research experience with at least 60% marks at Master’s level.

Around 3–5 years of teaching or research experience, including doctoral guidance exposure, is expected. A research record of approximately eight publications is preferred.

Assistant Professor

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or post-doctoral research background with at least 60% marks at Master’s level.

A good publication profile is expected, with around 3–5 peer-reviewed publications preferred.

Salary Structure

Nalanda University has announced annual remuneration in US dollars for the three faculty levels.

Application Fee

Candidates must pay Rs. 500 for each post applied for.

Separate applications and separate fees are required if a candidate wishes to apply for more than one position.

Candidates should retain the UTR or transaction reference number, as it is required while filling out the application.

Selection Process

Nalanda University may shortlist candidates based on academic qualifications, teaching and research experience, and publication record.
