The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) has announced recruitment for 655 Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer and Assistant Sub Inspector (Ministerial) posts for the Madhya Pradesh Police. The vacancies are spread across the General Branch, Special Branch, Field Unit and Crime Investigation Department, with the ASI Field Unit accounting for 370 positions.

Online applications for the MP Police Recruitment 2026 will open on September 24 and close at midnight on October 8, 2026. Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) and meet the prescribed computer, CPCT and, for Subedar Stenographer, Hindi shorthand requirements. The application correction facility will remain available until October 13.

The first stage of selection is a 100-mark online written examination scheduled to begin from November 3, 2026. Candidates shortlisted from the examination will proceed to document verification and the applicable practical typing or shorthand test. Educational Qualification

Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer

Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) and possess the prescribed Hindi shorthand proficiency at 100 words per minute.

Applicants also require a CPCT certificate with Hindi typing along with the prescribed computer qualification, which may include a Diploma in Computer, COPA or Modern Office Management from a recognized institution, subject to the recruitment rules.

Assistant Sub Inspector (Ministerial)

Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) and possess a valid CPCT certificate with Hindi typing.

The prescribed computer qualification includes applicable qualifications such as an Engineering degree, MCA, BCA, M.Sc. in Computer Science/IT, AICTE-recognized Diploma, DOEACC qualification, COPA from a government ITI or a recognized computer diploma, as specified in the recruitment rules.

Candidates must possess the required qualifications by October 8, 2026.

MP Police Exam Pattern 2026

The first stage will be an online objective examination carrying 100 marks. Candidates will have two hours to complete the test.

The examination will contain 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks, with no negative marking specified. The question paper will be in Hindi, and normalization will apply as prescribed for the examination.

Candidates up to seven times the number of vacancies in each vertical category will be shortlisted for the second stage, subject to the prescribed cut-off provisions.

Selection Process

The MP Police Subedar Steno and ASI Ministerial selection process consists of two main stages.

The first stage is the MPESB online written examination. Candidates qualifying according to the prescribed shortlisting criteria will proceed to the second stage conducted by the Police Department.

The second stage includes document verification and the applicable practical skill examination involving typing and/or shorthand requirements according to the post.

Candidates must also satisfy the prescribed physical and medical standards.

Newly appointed candidates will receive the prescribed percentage of minimum pay during the initial three-year period: 70% in the first year, 80% in the second year and 90% in the third year.

The age cut-off date is October 8, 2026. Additional relaxation provisions for eligible ex-servicemen, retrenched government employees and other specified categories will apply according to the recruitment rules.

Physical and Medical Standards

The minimum stated height requirement is 162 cm for male candidates and 152 cm for female candidates.

Candidates must also satisfy the prescribed medical standards. The stated eyesight requirement without glasses is 6/9 in one eye and 6/12 in the other. Candidates must be able to distinguish principal colours under the prescribed colour-vision test and must meet other medical conditions, including requirements concerning knock-knees and flat feet.
