Some of the different roles available with LIC include Assistant Administrative Officer (LIC AAO), Assistant Development Officer (LIC ADO), Direct Sales Executive (LIC DSE), and Development Officer (LIC DO), among others. For each of these positions, LIC conducts different exams such as LIC AAO, LIC ADO, LIC DSE, and LIC DO.

LIC Exam Eligibility Criteria

All of the positions available with LIC have more or less the same edibility criteria. However, some requirements vary from position to position. The following are the eligibility criteria for some of the positions.

1. LIC AAO

  1. You must be a citizen of India
  2. You must have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  3. You must be in the age group of 21 to 30 years.

2. LIC ADO

  1. You must be a citizen of India
  2. You must have completed a graduate degree from a recognized university which is approved for the fellowship of the Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai.
  3. You must be in the age group of 21 to 30 years.

3. LIC DSE

  1. You must have completed graduation from a recognized university in India. Candidates with marketing degrees are given higher preference.
  2. You must have good English language skills.
  3. You must have proficiency in Microsoft tools.

4. LIC DO

  1. You must be a citizen of India
  2. You must have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  3. You must be in the age group of 21 to 30 years.

LIC Exam Pattern

1. LIC AAO

LIC AAO exam consists of three different phases – Prelims, Mains Legal, and Mains (IT/CA/Actuarial/Rajbhasha). Being said that, the prelims paper is of 1 hour and the mains paper will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes. You can expect questions on different topics such as English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning.

2. LIC ADO

LIC ADO exam consists of two different phases – Prelims and Mains. Being said that, the prelims exam has one paper, whereas the mains exam has three papers. The paper type is objective-based and one can expect questions on different topics such as English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning.

3. LIC DSE

LIC DSE has only one paper and contains objective-type questions. You can expect questions on different topics such as General Awareness, Sales Aptitude, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning.

4. LIC DO

LIC DO has only one paper and contains objective-type questions. The paper is conducted over a period of 2 hours during which the candidates will have to solve 200 questions. The exam is divided into four sections, wherein one can expect questions on different topics such as English, General Awareness, Reasoning, and Numerical Ability.

LIC Selection Process

Different positions available with LIC have a different selection process. The following is the selection process for some of the above-mentioned exams.

1. LIC AAO

The LIC AAO selection process consists of four different phases. These include prelims exam, mains exam, interview, and medical test. Once the exam is successfully cleared, candidates are required to appear for an interview.

2. LIC ADO

The LIC ADO selection process consists of four different phases. These include two written tests, interviews, and medical tests. Once the exam is successfully cleared, candidates are required to appear for an interview.

3. LIC DSE

The LIC DSE selection process consists of two different phases. These include a written test and an interview. Once the exam is successfully cleared, candidates are required to appear for an interview.

4. LIC DO

The LIC DO selection process consists of three different phases. These include a written test, group discussion, and an interview. Once the exam is successfully cleared, candidates are required to appear for group discussion and interview.

Syllabus for Various Exams of LIC

  1. English – Spelling Test, Synonyms, Sentence Completion, Antonyms, Error Correction, Spotting Errors, Passage Completion, and Fill in the Blanks among others.
  2. General Awareness – General Science, Culture, Tourism, Rivers, Lakes, and Seas, Indian History, Current Affairs, Indian Economy, and Famous Places in India among others.
  3. Quantitative Aptitude – Indices, Problems on Trains, Probability, Average, Compound Interest, Areas, Numbers and Ages, Profit and Loss, and Number Problems among others.
  4. Reasoning – Letter and Symbol, Data Sufficiency, Cause and Effect, Making Judgements, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Classification, and Data Interpretation among others.
