JKSSB Recruitment Drive Opens for 2,863 MTS and Sanitation Worker Posts; Applications Begin October 5

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced recruitment for 2,863 Class-IV (MTS) and Sanitation Worker vacancies across departments of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Advertisement Notification No. 09 of 2026, dated September 1, covers posts under UT Cadre, Jammu and Kashmir Divisional Cadres and District Cadres across all 20 districts.

Online applications for JKSSB Recruitment 2026 will open on October 5 and remain available until November 3, 2026. Candidates must be domiciles of Jammu & Kashmir and possess the prescribed educational qualification. Class-IV (MTS) posts require at least Matriculation, while the minimum qualification for Sanitation Worker is Class 8. Importantly, candidates possessing qualifications higher than 10+2 are not eligible for these posts.

Selected candidates will be appointed in Pay Level SL-1 of ₹14,800–₹47,100. Recruitment will be based on an objective written examination along with additional weightage applicable to UT, Divisional or District Cadre candidates, followed by document verification and the prescribed medical process.

The 2,863 vacancies have been advertised through the General Administration Department for appointments across various Jammu & Kashmir Government departments.

JKSSB Class-IV and MTS Cadre-Wise Vacancies

The largest share of the recruitment is under the two Divisional Cadres, with 1,093 vacancies in Jammu and 897 in Kashmir.

A total of 768 vacancies are distributed across the 20 District Cadres.

Qualification and J&K Domicile Requirement

Candidates applying for Class-IV (MTS) positions must have passed Matriculation or Class 10. The maximum permissible educational qualification is 10+2.

For Sanitation Worker positions, the minimum qualification is Class 8, while the maximum permissible qualification is again 10+2.

Candidates possessing an educational qualification higher than 10+2 are not eligible for these vacancies.

The prescribed educational qualification must be held by November 3, 2026.

Applicants must also be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. A valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority must be possessed on or before the application closing date of November 3.

JKSSB Class-IV Selection Process

Final selection will be based on a 100-mark framework, but the allocation between the written test and additional weightage differs according to the cadre.

*The applicable condition covers the prescribed declaration that a family member neither is nor has been in Government service, including the specified PSUs, Boards and Autonomous Bodies substantially owned by Government.

Home Division or Home District weightage will be determined through the candidate’s Domicile Certificate.

The recruitment process will also include document verification and the applicable medical examination.

Written Exam Pattern

The JKSSB Class-IV/MTS examination will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions.

The question paper will be in English only. A negative marking provision of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will apply for every incorrect response.

JKSSB will issue the detailed examination syllabus separately.

Age Limit

Age will be determined as on January 1, 2026.

For Ex-Servicemen, the applicable period of military service will be deducted from actual age, after which the resultant age must satisfy the prescribed relaxation provisions.

Eligible casual workers claiming additional weightage under the applicable J&K Class-IV special recruitment rules are provided an additional five years of upper-age relaxation.

Salary

Selected Class-IV (MTS) and Sanitation Worker candidates will be appointed at Pay Level SL-1:

₹14,800–₹47,100

Eligible employees will also receive DA, HRA and other allowances according to the rules applicable to Class-IV employees of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

3. Complete the required registration process and generate the registration credentials.

5. Select the appropriate Item Number and cadre for which you satisfy the eligibility requirements.
6. Upload the prescribed photograph, signature and supporting documents in the required format.
7. Pay the applicable ₹600 or ₹500 application fee through the online payment facility.
8. Review the entered information carefully before final submission.
9. Submit the application no later than November 3, 2026.
10. Download and retain a copy of the confirmation page and submitted application for the examination and document verification stages.
