ITBP Head Constable Recruitment 2026 Notice Out: Apply to 37 Motor Mechanic and Education & Stress Counsellor Vacancies by October 27

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has announced two Head Constable recruitment drives covering a combined 37 vacancies. The vacancies include 21 Head Constable (Motor Mechanic) posts and 16 Head Constable (Education and Stress Counsellor) posts.

Online registration for ITBP Head Constable Recruitment 2026 will begin on September 28 and close on October 27, 2026. Applications must be submitted through the ITBP recruitment portal at recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in. Both posts are classified under General Central Service, Group C, Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial and carry Pay Level 4 of ₹25,500–₹81,100.

Eligibility differs between the two recruitments. Motor Mechanic applicants need 10+2 with the prescribed Motor Mechanic qualification and experience or a three-year Diploma in Automobile Engineering. Education and Stress Counsellor applicants require a recognized university degree with Psychology as a subject, or a degree with B.Ed., Bachelor of Teaching or an equivalent qualification.

ITBP Head Constable Recruitment 2026 Notification

The combined ITBP recruitment covers 37 Head Constable vacancies in two specialized areas. Of these, 21 vacancies are for Head Constable (Motor Mechanic), while another 16 are for Head Constable (Education and Stress Counsellor).

ITBP Vacancy Details

Ten per cent of vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen under the applicable recruitment provisions. The notified vacancy figures are tentative and may increase or decrease.

Motor Mechanic Category-Wise Vacancies

The 21 Head Constable (Motor Mechanic) vacancies have been distributed among UR, SC, OBC and EWS categories.

Educational Qualification

Head Constable (Motor Mechanic)

Candidates can qualify through either of the two prescribed educational routes.

Under the first route, applicants must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board or institution and possess a Motor Mechanic Certificate from a recognized institution or ITI, along with three years of practical experience in the trade.

Alternatively, candidates holding a three-year Diploma in Automobile Engineering from a recognized institution are eligible.

This recruitment is open to eligible male candidates meeting the prescribed nationality and other conditions.

Head Constable (Education and Stress Counsellor)

Candidates must possess a degree from a recognized university or equivalent with Psychology as a subject.

Alternatively, candidates can hold a recognized university degree together with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Bachelor of Teaching or an equivalent qualification.

The 16 vacancies comprise 14 positions for male candidates and two for female candidates.

Age Limit

Age requirements differ between the two ITBP Head Constable recruitments.

Applicable upper-age relaxation will be provided to eligible reserved categories and Ex-Servicemen according to the prescribed government and ITBP recruitment rules.

ITBP Head Constable Salary

Both Head Constable posts carry Pay Level 4 under the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Selected candidates will also receive applicable allowances and benefits according to ITBP and Central Government rules.

Application Fee

The application fee is ₹100 for candidates to whom the fee requirement applies.

Candidates should follow the fee conditions applicable to the specific Head Constable post for which they are applying.

Selection Process

The recruitment process includes physical, written, document verification and medical stages. The exact stages vary slightly depending on the post.

Candidates may undergo:

1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
2. Physical Standard Test (PST)
3. Written Examination
4. Verification of Original Documents
5. Practical/Skill Test for Motor Mechanic, where applicable

Motor Mechanic applicants should also keep their Motor Mechanic/ITI certificate, experience documents or Automobile Engineering Diploma, depending on the qualification route used.

Education and Stress Counsellor applicants should have the relevant university degree, Psychology qualification details or B.Ed./Bachelor of Teaching/equivalent documents.

Reserved-category and Ex-Servicemen candidates must produce applicable certificates in the prescribed format to claim relaxation or fee exemption.
