Indian Ports Association (IPA) has invited applications for five Senior Consultant and Consultant positions for the International Cooperation (IC) Division of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW). The positions are contractual and based in New Delhi, with applications required to reach IPA by September 18, 2026.

The IPA Consultant Recruitment 2026 is being conducted under Advertisement No. IPA/IC-CONSULTANTS-MoPSW/2026. There are two Senior Consultant and three Consultant vacancies. Applicants must hold a full-time Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field and have the prescribed post-qualification experience. Senior Consultants will receive fixed remuneration of ₹15 lakh per annum, while Consultants will receive ₹12 lakh per annum.

The initial engagement will be for two years under the Indian Ports Association Contract Employment Policy, 2025. Candidates will support international maritime cooperation work covering bilateral engagements, global forums, trade corridors, shipping initiatives, research and policy-related assignments.

IPA Consultant Recruitment 2026 Notification

The Indian Ports Association issued the recruitment notification on August 25, 2026, seeking experienced professionals for its international cooperation-related assignments with MoPSW.

IPA Consultant Vacancy and Qualification Details

The Master’s degree or higher qualification should be from a reputed Indian or international university in Economics, Public Policy, Maritime, Trade, Transport Management, International Relations or a related subject.

The required experience must be full-time experience obtained after acquiring the essential educational qualification.

Experience with international organizations such as the United Nations, Government of India ministries or departments, state governments, PSUs, autonomous organizations, reputed think tanks, research institutions or private-sector organizations is preferred.

Applicants are also expected to have strong analytical and writing abilities, professional proficiency in English and skills in preparing research and knowledge products. High proficiency in digital tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AI-enabled research tools is also required.

Age Limit

Candidates should be between 25 and 45 years of age as on the closing date for applications, September 18, 2026.

IPA Consultant Salary and Contract Terms

Senior Consultants will receive fixed remuneration of ₹15 lakh per annum, while Consultants will receive ₹12 lakh per annum.

No revision in remuneration will be considered during the initial two-year engagement period.

The appointment is purely contractual and full-time under the Indian Ports Association Contract Employment Policy, 2025. The initial engagement is for two years and may be extended depending on performance, mutual willingness and organizational requirements.

Selected candidates will be entitled to one day of paid leave for every completed month. Leave cannot be accumulated beyond the relevant calendar year. Either party can terminate the engagement by providing one month’s notice.

Key Responsibilities of IPA Consultants

The selected professionals will support the International Cooperation Division in preparing technical briefs, position papers, speaking notes, interventions and meeting outcomes for bilateral engagements and international forums.

They will also monitor international cooperation initiatives associated with Maritime India Vision 2030, Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, agreements, MoUs and other bilateral arrangements.

Assignments may involve tracking major international trade and maritime corridors such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), Eastern Maritime Corridor, Northern Sea Route and International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), as well as supporting India’s Green and Digital Shipping Corridors.

Other responsibilities include organizing high-level business roundtables and investment summits, preparing presentations and official correspondence, producing data-driven research and knowledge products, attending seminars and conferences, and preparing reports or summary notes.

Selection Process

IPA will first scrutinize applications submitted in the prescribed format. Eligible candidates may then be shortlisted for the subsequent selection process.

The selection process is tentatively expected to take place in October 2026. Exact dates and further instructions will be communicated to shortlisted candidates.
