Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has opened online applications for 25 Security Guard vacancies reserved for eligible Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers. The recruitment is for the bank’s Subordinate Staff cadre, with applications being accepted through the IOB careers portal until September 14, 2026.

The IOB Security Guard Recruitment 2026 is intended for candidates who have passed Class 10 or an equivalent examination but have not passed graduation. Applicants must also possess Tamil language proficiency and satisfy the prescribed Armed Forces service, medical and character requirements.

The vacancies are distributed across General, OBC, SC and EWS categories. Selected candidates will receive the Security Guard pay scale prescribed under the 12th Bipartite Settlement along with applicable allowances and benefits.

IOB Security Guard Vacancy Details

Indian Overseas Bank has announced 25 vacancies, with the highest allocation under the General category.

The recruitment is exclusively for eligible Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers. Disabled Ex-Servicemen are not eligible under the stated conditions.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 10th standard or an equivalent examination.

Applicants who have passed Graduation or an equivalent higher qualification are not eligible for the Security Guard post.

In addition, candidates must be able to speak, read and write Tamil, as local language proficiency forms part of the selection process.

Ex-Servicemen Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the service-related conditions prescribed by Indian Overseas Bank.

At the time of discharge from the Armed Forces, candidates should have:

• An exemplary character record.
• Medical category of at least SHAPE-1 or AYE, as applicable.
• The required Ex-Servicemen or Ex-Agniveer status under the recruitment rules.

Persons with Disabilities, disabled Ex-Servicemen and dependants of servicemen killed in action are not eligible under the stated recruitment conditions.

Age Limit

Age will be calculated as on August 1, 2026. The effective upper age depends on category and qualifying defence service.

Candidates should calculate their eligibility carefully according to their service period and category before applying.

IOB Security Guard Selection Process

Selection will be based on performance across three stages.

Online Objective Test

The online test carries 80 marks.

Tamil Language Test

Candidates will undergo a local language test carrying 20 marks to assess proficiency in Tamil.

Physical Fitness Test

The Physical Fitness Test carries 100 marks.

Candidates must obtain at least 65 marks overall in the Physical Fitness Test while also satisfying the individual qualifying requirements prescribed for each activity.

Final selection will be prepared category-wise according to merit and reservation rules.

Pre-Examination Training

Optional pre-examination training will be available for eligible SC, ST, Minority and Ex-Servicemen candidates according to the bank’s recruitment arrangements.

IOB Security Guard Salary

Selected candidates will be appointed in the Subordinate Staff cadre under the pay scale prescribed by the 12th Bipartite Settlement.

The pay progression is:

Rs. 19,500-665/4-22,160-830/5-26,310-990/4-30,270-1,170/3-33,780-1,345/3-37,815

Applicable allowances and other benefits will be provided according to Indian Overseas Bank rules.

Probation Period

Selected Security Guards will remain on probation for six months of active service from the date of joining.

Appointment and continuation will remain subject to satisfactory completion of probation and compliance with the bank’s service conditions.
