Non-Teaching Posts and Pay Levels

The 13 non-teaching positions range from Pay Level 4 for Junior Assistants to Pay Level 12 for Deputy General Manager (Academics).

Engineering Assistant Vacancies and Qualification

Eight Engineering Assistant vacancies are available across Civil, Electrical and MEP disciplines.

B.E./equivalent candidates need at least two years of relevant on-site experience, while diploma holders require at least four years. The normal duration of a relevant Master’s degree can be counted toward the prescribed experience.

Non-Teaching Qualification and Experience

Requirements for the 13 administrative vacancies differ by level and responsibility.

Engineering Assistant Experience Requirements

Civil candidates should have relevant experience in areas such as building construction, RCC works, roads, drainage, waterproofing and campus maintenance.

Electrical applicants should have experience involving HT/LT distribution, substations, DG sets, UPS systems and electrification. An Electrical Supervisor Certificate is desirable for the Electrical position.

For MEP vacancies, relevant experience includes HVAC, plumbing, sewage and water treatment systems, fire systems, lifts and ELV/BMS.

Experience in campuses, PSUs or project management consultancies and familiarity with the CPWD Works Manual, GFR 2017 and GeM are desirable. Working knowledge of Marathi and Hindi along with English is also desirable.

Age Limit

Age requirements differ according to the post.

For the non-teaching recruitment, age and eligibility will be determined as on September 29, 2026. Relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates applies according to Government of India rules, and there is no age bar for IIM Mumbai departmental candidates.

For Engineering Assistant posts, age relaxation, where applicable, will be governed by IIM Mumbai’s recruitment conditions.

Engineering Assistant Salary

Engineering Assistants will receive monthly emoluments of ₹45,000. An OCA of ₹4,500 and mobile allowance of ₹500 per month take the stated total monthly compensation to ₹50,000.

The Engineering Assistant appointments are on a contract basis.

The two recruitments have different fee information.

For the 13 non-teaching vacancies under Advertisement No. Admn/Rectt/2026/33, the non-refundable fee is ₹590. SC, ST, PwBD and IIM Mumbai internal candidates are exempt.

No separate application fee has been specified for the Engineering Assistant recruitment.

Selection Process

For non-teaching administrative posts, applications will initially be examined by a Screening Committee. IIM Mumbai may apply higher qualification or experience standards when shortlisting candidates if required.

The Engineering Assistant positions are specifically offered on a contract basis.

For the 13 non-teaching positions, initial appointments may be made on tenure or deputation for five years according to the Institute’s requirements. IIM Mumbai may also engage candidates on consolidated remuneration or offer a lower position if considered appropriate. Officers holding analogous positions may apply on deputation.

Candidates applying under Advertisement No. Admn/Rectt/2026/33 may submit an application for only one post.
