IGCAR Recruitment 2026 for 50 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Posts | Last Date: 13th July 2026

The Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, has released Advertisement No. IGCAR/02/2026 inviting online applications for approximately 50 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) posts. The fellowship provides an excellent opportunity for candidates in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Engineering Sciences to pursue a fully funded Ph.D. under the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). Eligible candidates with relevant postgraduate or engineering qualifications can apply online from 22 June 2026 to 13 July 2026. Selected candidates will receive a monthly fellowship of up to ₹42,000 along with contingency grants and other research benefits.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualification with the required minimum marks.
• Minimum 55% aggregate marks in Graduation and Post Graduation (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD).
• Final-year students may also apply subject to fulfilling eligibility conditions.
• Valid GATE/UGC-CSIR NET/JEST scores are applicable for certain categories.

Educational Requirement

• M.Sc. or Integrated M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Radiation Physics or related disciplines.
• M.E./M.Tech. in Nuclear Engineering or related specializations.
• B.E./B.Tech. in Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent.
• M.E./M.Tech. with valid GATE score in eligible disciplines.

Other Requirement

• Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions mentioned in Advertisement No. IGCAR/02/2026.
• Original documents will be verified during the selection process.
• Selected candidates will pursue Ph.D. under Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI).

Salary

• Direct Ph.D.
  • Years 1–2: ₹37,000 per month
  • Years 3–5: ₹42,000 per month
• Integrated Ph.D. (Single Degree)
  • Year 1: ₹25,000 per month
  • Years 2–3: ₹37,000 per month
  • Years 4–6: ₹42,000 per month
• Integrated Ph.D. (Dual Degree)
  • Year 1: ₹25,000 per month
  • Years 2–3: ₹37,000 per month
  • Years 4–7: ₹42,000 per month
• Annual Contingency Grant: ₹60,000
• One-time Book Allowance as per institute rules

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 28 Years (as on 13 July 2026)

IGCAR Recruitment 2026 for Drivers and Other Posts [CLOSED]

The Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, has announced a recruitment drive for the re-engagement of retired Driver Cadre personnel on a contractual basis. This opportunity is exclusively for retired employees from the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) or its Constituent Units who are below 65 years of age and possess a valid LMV and HMV driving license. The appointment is initially for one year, extendable annually up to five years post-superannuation. Interested and eligible candidates must submit their application in the prescribed format before 11th February 2026.

Education & Experience

• Must have retired on superannuation from Driver Cadre of DAE or its Constituent Units on or before 31/12/2025
• Must be below 65 years as on date of application
• Must possess a valid LMV and HMV driving licence issued by a competent authority
• Medically fit for driving duties (certificate required)
• No pending disciplinary/criminal cases or penalties for misconduct in the last 10 years

Salary

• 50% of Last Pay Drawn (Basic Pay + Grade Pay) at the time of retirement
• Fixed Transport Allowance @ 50% of the Transport Allowance drawn at retirement
• TA/DA applicable for official tours as per last held post
