Qualification and Experience

Eligibility is post-specific, and candidates must satisfy both the prescribed educational and deputation/service requirements applicable to the position.

Chief Scientific Officer applicants require a full-time M.Sc. in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry or Biotechnology, or a degree in Chemical Engineering. Candidates must also be working on an analogous post in the Central or State Government, CPCB, SPCB or a PSU.

For Senior Scientist posts in Data & Analytics, the qualification includes M.Sc. in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or Operational Research with a postgraduate diploma in Computer Science, or MCA/B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, along with eight years of relevant experience. Other Senior Scientist expert positions require a PhD in the relevant area, such as air or water quality, waste management, conservation or toxicology, together with the specified experience.

Environmental Engineer candidates require a first-division M.E./M.Tech in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering with seven years of relevant experience, or a first-division B.E./B.Tech in the applicable engineering discipline with nine years of relevant experience.

Assistant Environmental Engineer applicants require a first-division B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering.

Scientist B requires a first-division M.Sc. in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Botany, Microbiology or Biochemistry, or a degree in Chemical Engineering.

For Private Secretary, candidates need a graduate degree and two years of experience as a Personal Assistant. Personal Assistant requires graduation with five years of experience as a Senior Scale Stenographer.

Senior Scale Stenographer, Junior Scale Stenographer and Steno-typist positions require graduation along with the applicable experience in an analogous State Government post.

Assistant applicants require graduation and five years of experience in an analogous State Government post.

For Accountant, candidates need an M.Com with second division or B.Com with first division, together with two years of experience in commercial accounting. Accounts Clerk requires B.Com with second division and three years of relevant experience.

Salary and Pay Levels

HSPCB Recruitment 2026 covers positions from Pay Level 2 to Pay Level 19. Chief Scientific Officer carries the highest stated scale at ₹1,28,900–₹2,19,600 under Level 19.

Senior Scientist is placed at Level 14, while Environmental Engineer carries Level 11. Assistant Environmental Engineer and Scientist B are at Level 9.
