Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has invited applications for 24 Turnaround Consultant positions at its Visakh Refinery in Visakhapatnam. The short-term recruitment covers Maintenance Static, Operations, Instrumentation, Electrical, Rotary and Civil functions, along with senior Technical Advisor/Turnaround Mentor requirements.

Applications for HPCL Turnaround Consultant Recruitment 2026 must be submitted by September 12. The engagement is specifically intended for superannuated employees of HPCL or other Public Sector Oil & Gas companies with relevant refinery experience. Candidates should not be more than 64 years old as on July 31, 2026 and must have at least five years of experience in the relevant department or division.

The consultants are being engaged to support the major Block Turnaround planned at Visakh Refinery during November-December 2026. The contractual engagement is for three months, subject to the selected consultant not attaining 65 years of age during the engagement and meeting the prescribed medical fitness conditions.

The recruitment is being conducted for experienced retired personnel who can support refinery turnaround activities in technical, maintenance and operational functions.

HPCL Turnaround Consultant Vacancy Details

Maintenance Static has the largest requirement with nine positions across the three grades, followed by Operations with six and Instrumentation with four.

The Grade 10F and 10G positions correspond to senior Technical Advisor/Turnaround Mentor requirements.

Who Can Apply?

The HPCL recruitment is not an entry-level or open recruitment for fresh engineering graduates. Applicants must be retired employees of HPCL or another Public Sector Oil & Gas company and possess relevant professional experience.

Candidates must have at least five years of experience in the department or division relevant to the position for which they are applying.

Preference will be given to personnel with hands-on experience in major refinery shutdowns or turnaround operations.

Age Limit and Cooling Period

Candidates should not be more than 64 years old as on July 31, 2026.

There must also be a minimum cooling period of two months between the candidate’s retirement and proposed re-engagement as a consultant.

The engagement is additionally subject to the consultant not attaining 65 years of age during the contractual period.

Service Record Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the prescribed service-record conditions for re-engagement.

Candidates should not have received any major penalty during their service. They should also not have been subjected to a minor penalty during the preceding 10 years.

Non-HPCL retired employees are required to provide the prescribed self-declaration as part of their application documents.

Compensation and Contract Terms

HPCL has not specified a uniform fixed monthly salary for all 24 positions. The monthly consultancy fee will be determined according to the prescribed terms and will not exceed the candidate’s last drawn salary comprising Basic Pay and Dearness Allowance, after adjustment of the applicable notional monthly payment from annuity.

Consultants may also receive reimbursement of conveyance and monthly mobile expenses in accordance with the applicable guidelines.

The engagement is expected to commence around October/November in preparation for the refinery turnaround.

Selection Process

HPCL will shortlist eligible candidates for Personal Interaction/Interview.

The interaction may be conducted online through Zoom or in physical mode. Candidates called for a physical interview will not receive TA/DA.

No reimbursement will be provided for expenses incurred while joining the contractual assignment.
