The Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Ministry of Defence, has announced 35 paid internship positions for engineering students for 2026-27. The openings include 15 undergraduate and 20 postgraduate internships in Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical and Computer Science-related disciplines.

Students pursuing the prescribed B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech programmes can apply for the six-month internship, subject to academic, age and other eligibility requirements. The internship programme is intended for regular engineering students interested in gaining practical exposure at CVRDE. Undergraduate applicants should be studying in the seventh or eighth semester of B.E./B.Tech, while postgraduate applicants should be in the first or second year of M.E./M.Tech.

Of the 35 internship positions, 20 are earmarked for postgraduate engineering students and 15 for undergraduate students.

Branch-wise Internship Positions

Mechanical Engineering has the highest number of openings with 19 positions, followed by Electronics-related disciplines with 10.

Qualification Requirements

The paid internship is open to regular students pursuing relevant engineering programmes at recognized Indian universities or institutes.

Undergraduate candidates must be pursuing B.E./B.Tech and should be in the seventh or eighth semester. Postgraduate candidates must be pursuing M.E./M.Tech and should be in their first or second year.

Applicants must belong to one of the engineering disciplines covered by the internship vacancy distribution.

Academic Requirement

Candidates are required to have maintained at least 85% marks or an 8.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale consistently in their previous semesters.

Applicants should attach the required semester marksheets with their application so that their academic eligibility can be assessed during merit-based shortlisting.

Age Limit

Applicants must be below 28 years of age as on July 1, 2026.

Only Indian nationals are eligible for the internship programme.

Internship Duration and Stipend

The DRDO CVRDE internship will run for six months. Selected students will receive a stipend of ₹5,000 per month.

The stipend will be credited directly to the intern’s bank account according to the prescribed payment schedule.

Selection Process
