DRDO CVRDE Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Notice Out: Walk-Ins for 93 ITI Trainee Vacancies on September 8 and 9

Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, Chennai, has invited eligible ITI candidates for 93 apprentice trainee positions under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The recruitment covers 18 trades including COPA, Electrician, Fitter, Draughtsman, Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Machinist, Welder, Electronics Mechanic and other technical trades.

The CVRDE Apprentice Recruitment 2026 will be conducted through walk-in interviews on September 8 and 9. Candidates must report at the CVRDE campus in Avadi between 9 AM and 5 PM with the required application documents, certificates and NCVT/SCVT MIS registration details.

CVRDE is a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Ministry of Defence. Selection will be based on marks obtained in the qualifying ITI examination followed by interview and document verification.

CVRDE ITI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Notification

The apprenticeship engagement is being conducted under Advertisement No. CVRDE/ADMIN/2026-27. All 93 positions are tenure-based apprentice training posts rather than regular employment.

CVRDE Apprentice Vacancy Details

The 93 apprentice vacancies are spread across 18 ITI trades. COPA has the highest number of openings with 13 posts, followed by Electrician with 12 and Draughtsman and Fitter with 10 each.

The indicative category distribution is 40 UR, 25 OBC, 13 SC, nine EWS and six ST vacancies. These figures are provisional and may be revised after assessment of eligible candidates.

Important Dates

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 18 years old as on September 1, 2026.

Candidates should ensure that their category certificates are valid. Expired OBC certificates will not be accepted.

ITI Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have passed ITI in the relevant trade from an institution recognised under NCVT or SCVT.

The ITI programme should generally be of at least two years’ duration. The specified exception applies to COPA, Painter, Plumber, Welder and Food Production trades.

Only candidates who passed their ITI qualification in 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 can participate. Candidates who completed the qualifying examination before 2023 are not eligible.

Registration on the NCVT/SCVT MIS portal is mandatory, and candidates must carry their registration number to the walk-in.

Provisional certificates may be accepted at the joining stage, subject to later submission of the final NCVT/SCVT certificate.

CVRDE Apprentice Stipend

The monthly stipend depends on the trade and is fixed at either ₹10,560 or ₹11,040.

Trades including COPA, Painter, Welder, Computer Networking Technician, Computer & Peripherals Hardware Repair & Maintenance Mechanic, CAD-CAM Operator Cum Programmer and Food Production carry ₹10,560 per month.

The remaining listed trades carry a monthly stipend of ₹11,040.

Selection Process

CVRDE will shortlist candidates primarily on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying ITI examination. Shortlisted candidates will then undergo the walk-in interview and document verification.

4. Final selection and joining formalities

Selected candidates may be issued joining letters at the venue. A police verification certificate from the candidate’s last residence or permanent address will be required at the time of joining.

Application Fee

How to Attend the CVRDE Apprentice Walk-In

No separate online application deadline has been prescribed for this recruitment. Eligible candidates must attend the walk-in directly with the required records.

1. Check that the relevant ITI trade, pass year and age conditions are satisfied as on the prescribed cut-off dates.
2. Complete registration on the NCVT/SCVT MIS portal and note the registration number.
3. Carry Class 10 and Class 12 certificates or mark sheets, as applicable.
4. Bring ITI mark sheets and the NCVT/SCVT certificate or permitted provisional proof.
5. Carry Aadhaar card and applicable caste, EWS or PwD certificates.
6. Report at CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai – 600 054 between 9 AM and 5 PM on September 8 or September 9, 2026.
7. Attend document verification and the walk-in interview.
8. Candidates selected for apprenticeship should complete the joining formalities and submit the required police verification certificate.
