Delhi Archives Fellowship 2026 Notification Released for 15 SRF and JRF Posts, Apply Offline by September 30

The Department of Delhi Archives, Government of NCT of Delhi, has opened applications for 15 positions under its Fellowship Scheme for Research in Archives. The intake includes 10 Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and five Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions covering archival research, conservation, records management, digitization and related fields.
The fellowship is restricted to eligible residents of the Union Territory of Delhi who have been residing in Delhi for at least five years. Depending on the research area, applicants need a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and, for some fields, specified professional qualifications or training. Applications must be submitted in hard copy and reach the Department of Delhi Archives by September 30, 2026.
Selected Senior Research Fellows will receive ₹50,000 per month, while Junior Research Fellows will receive ₹25,000 per month. Candidates can apply for only one research field, and selection will be made through a 100-mark assessment incorporating academic qualifications, research synopsis, experience and interview.

Research & Publication accounts for the largest share of the Senior Research Fellow positions, with six vacancies.
Field-wise Qualification Requirements
For Records Management, candidates need a Master’s Degree in History with a paper in Modern Indian History and at least 55% marks, along with a one-year Diploma in Archives & Records Management from the National Archives of India or an equivalent qualification.
The Conservation field requires a Master’s Degree in Conservation, Preservation & Heritage Management or an equivalent discipline with at least 55% marks. Previous conservation experience is preferred.
For Digitization, candidates need a B.Tech in Information Technology or Computer Science, or an MCA, with at least 55% marks. Experience in digitization is preferred.
Applicants for Dissemination of Information/Data need a Graduation degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks. Preference will be given to candidates with a postgraduate qualification and five to 10 years of experience in communication technology and social media outreach.
Micro-filming requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with at least 55% marks and an eight-week Certificate Course in Reprography from the National Archives of India.
For Research & Publication, candidates need a Master’s Degree in History with at least 55% marks and specialization or a paper in Modern Indian History. Previous editing, research or publication experience is preferred.
The Oriental Languages category requires a Master’s Degree in Persian or Urdu with at least 55% marks. Preference will be given to candidates experienced in reading old archival or land records written in Persian.
Delhi Residency Requirement
Only residents of the Union Territory of Delhi are eligible for these fellowships. Applicants must have lived in Delhi for a minimum of five years and provide residence proof dating from January 1, 2022, or earlier.
Each candidate is permitted to apply in only one field of research.
Age Limit
The maximum age is 40 years for Records Management, Conservation, Digitization, Dissemination of Information/Data, Micro-filming and Research & Publication.
There is no age bar for candidates applying under Oriental Languages covering Urdu and Persian.

Selection Process
Selection will be carried out through a 100-mark assessment. The prescribed field-wise evaluation takes into account academic qualifications at Graduation, Post Graduation, M.Phil., Ph.D. or Diploma level, as applicable.
Marks will also be awarded for the candidate’s proposed research synopsis, relevant experience and performance in the interview.

How to Apply for Delhi Archives Fellowship 2026
- Download the Fellowship Scheme notification and prescribed application form from the Delhi Archives website.
- Complete the application form for the chosen research field. Candidates may apply for only one field.
- Prepare a research synopsis of no more than three A4 pages using font size 12.
- Attach the required supporting documents, including residence proof, PAN, Aadhaar and relevant educational, professional and experience records. Up to two recommendation letters may also be enclosed.
- Prepare a Bank Draft for ₹500 for General candidates or ₹250 for OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD and Women candidates in favour of “DDO, Department of Delhi Archives, GNCTD”.
- Sign the application form and all supporting documents as required.
- Send the complete hard-copy application to: The Deputy Director (Archives), Department of Delhi Archives, Government of NCT of Delhi, 18-A, Satsang Vihar Marg, Spl. Institutional Area, New Delhi – 110067.
