Captain Williamson Sangma State University (CWSSU), Meghalaya, has announced recruitment for 149 regular faculty positions across 18 academic departments at its Shillong and Tura campuses. The CWSSU Recruitment 2026 covers Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor posts, with online applications open until October 11, 2026.

The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement No. CWSSU/ESTT/SHG/01/2025/Pt-I/281 dated September 21, 2026. Candidates can submit applications exclusively through the CWSSU online recruitment portal from September 22. Qualifications vary by post and include a Master’s degree, Ph.D., NET/CSIR-NET or SET-NE, along with prescribed teaching, research and publication requirements where applicable.

Appointments are to the university’s sanctioned faculty cadre. Basic pay ranges from ₹57,700 for Assistant Professor to ₹1,44,200 for Professor, in addition to applicable allowances.

Of the 149 positions, 85 are for Assistant Professors, 46 for Associate Professors and 18 for Professors. The vacancies are distributed among 18 academic departments.

Educational Qualification

Professor – 18 Posts

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in the concerned subject and have an active research record. The requirements include at least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a Research Score of 120 under Appendix II Table 2 of the UGC Regulations, 2018.

Applicants should also have at least 10 years of teaching experience at university or college level as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, or equivalent research experience at the prescribed level.

The eligibility provisions also cover an outstanding professional holding a Ph.D. in the concerned subject from an academic institution or industry who has made a significant contribution to knowledge.

Associate Professor – 46 Posts

Candidates must have a good academic record with a Ph.D. in the concerned subject and a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade.

A minimum of eight years of teaching or research experience in an academic or research position equivalent to Assistant Professor is required.

Applicants must also have at least seven publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a Research Score of 75 under Appendix II Table 2 of the UGC Regulations, 2018.

Assistant Professor – 85 Posts

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks, or an equivalent grade, in the concerned subject from an Indian university or accredited foreign university.

Candidates are also required to have cleared NET/CSIR-NET conducted by UGC-CSIR or SET-NE in the concerned subject. Candidates holding a Ph.D. awarded in accordance with the applicable UGC Regulations are exempt from NET/SLET/SET as prescribed.

A 5% relaxation at Master’s degree level, reducing the requirement from 55% to 50%, applies to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates under the stated UGC norms.

CWSSU Faculty Salary

Selected candidates will also be eligible for DA and other allowances according to Government of Meghalaya rates.

Selection Process

CWSSU faculty recruitment will involve shortlisting followed by a personal interview.

For Assistant Professor posts, shortlisting will be based on the academic score prescribed under Appendix II Table 3A of the UGC Regulations, 2018. For Professor and Associate Professor posts, minimum eligibility, API Research Score and publication records will be verified and evaluated under the applicable UGC provisions.

Candidates will be called for interview in a 1:3 ratio for Assistant Professor vacancies and a 1:5 ratio for Professor and Associate Professor vacancies based on shortlisting scores.

Final selection will be based entirely on performance in the personal interview. Candidates must produce the required original documents at the interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Documents Required

Candidates should keep their Master’s degree, Ph.D. and other relevant educational certificates and mark sheets ready while applying. Assistant Professor applicants should provide their NET/CSIR-NET/SET-NE certificate unless eligible for the prescribed Ph.D. exemption.

Other required documents may include proof of date of birth, applicable caste/community certificate, teaching or research experience certificates, documents supporting the claimed Research/API Score and publication record, photographs and valid photo identification.

Candidates already employed must produce a No Objection Certificate from their current employer at the interview, as applicable.
