CSIR CMERI Technician Recruitment 2026: Last Date Extended to September 13 for 27 Posts

CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI) has extended the application deadline for its Technician Recruitment 2026. CSIR CMERI Vacancy 2026

The 27 vacancies are distributed among seven technical trades. Fitter accounts for the largest number of openings with 14 positions. Four vacancies each are available in the Electrician/Mechanic (Electrical Power Drives) and Electrician/Mechanic (Electrical Instrument Mechanic) categories.

Candidates should apply for the trade corresponding to their technical qualification and carefully verify the exact eligibility conditions before submitting the application.

CSIR CMERI Technician Eligibility

Applicants should have passed Class 10 or an equivalent examination with Science and at least 55% marks. They must also possess an ITI certificate in the trade relevant to the Technician vacancy for which they are applying.

For example, Fitter applicants require the relevant Fitter ITI qualification, while Machinist and Foundryman candidates need ITI certification in their respective trades. The electrical, motor vehicle/diesel and refrigeration vacancies similarly require the relevant technical trade qualification.

CSIR CMERI Technician Salary

Technician positions are placed at Pay Level-2, carrying a pay scale of ₹19,900 to ₹63,200. The approximate monthly emoluments have been indicated at around ₹39,000.

CSIR CMERI Technician Age Limit

The maximum age prescribed for the Technician posts is 28 years. Candidates must satisfy the applicable age requirement according to the cut-off conditions specified in the recruitment notification.

Relaxation in the upper age limit is available to eligible reserved and other categories in accordance with Government of India rules. Candidates claiming relaxation should have the required supporting certificates.

CSIR CMERI Application Fee

General, OBC and EWS candidates are required to pay an application fee of ₹500. SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempt from payment, while women applicants are also not required to pay the application fee.

Where applicable, the fee is to be paid through State Bank Collect according to the instructions provided for the recruitment.

CSIR CMERI Technician Selection Process

Selection for the Technician posts will be carried out through a Competitive Written Examination followed by document verification for candidates progressing through the prescribed process.

The written examination includes Paper I covering Mental Ability, Paper II covering General Awareness and English Language, and Paper III based on the concerned technical trade.

Candidates should prepare according to the prescribed examination scheme for their respective trade. Eligibility and supporting certificates will also be checked during the document verification stage.

Online applications for the Technician recruitment opened at 10:00 AM on July 4, 2026. The original deadline was August 3, 2026, up to 5:00 PM.

CSIR-CMERI has now extended the application deadline to September 13, 2026. Candidates who could not complete their applications within the earlier period therefore have another opportunity to apply.
