Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchirappalli has announced recruitment for 380 Trade Apprentice positions for the 2026-27 apprenticeship year. The one-year training programme covers nine trades, including Fitter, Welder, Electrician, Turner, Machinist and COPA, with the advertised number of apprenticeship seats being tentative.

Online applications for BHEL Trichy Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026 opened at 3:00 PM on August 14 and will remain available until 11:45 PM on September 12, 2026. Candidates must have passed Class 10 and completed a regular full-time ITI course in the relevant trade from an NCVT/SCVT-recognized institution, subject to the trade-specific requirements.

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of ₹10,560 or ₹11,040 depending on their trade. There is no application fee, and selection will be based on qualifying examination marks followed by document verification.

The number of apprenticeship seats is tentative and may be increased or reduced depending on BHEL’s requirements.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed High School/Class 10 and completed a regular full-time ITI course in the relevant trade from an NCVT or SCVT-recognized institution.

For the Welder trade, only an NCVT certificate will be accepted.

Candidates who completed the prescribed qualification through distance, part-time, correspondence or sandwich modes are not eligible for this apprenticeship recruitment.

Applicants who have already undergone apprenticeship training or are presently undergoing apprenticeship in another establishment under the Apprentices Act, 1961 are also not eligible.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old and not more than 27 years old as of August 1, 2026.

BHEL Trichy Apprentice Stipend 2026

The monthly stipend is determined by the apprentice’s trade.

Fitter, Electrician, Turner, Machinist, Instrument Mechanic, Motor Mechanic and Mechanic R & AC apprentices will receive ₹11,040 per month.

Welder and COPA apprentices will receive ₹10,560 per month.

The notification also mentions subsidized food and hostel facilities. Apprenticeship training will continue for 12 months from the date of joining.

Selection Process

BHEL Trichy Trade Apprentice selection will primarily be merit-based. Candidates will first undergo eligibility verification, after which the merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying ITI examination.

The recruitment process includes:

  1. Eligibility verification
  2. Merit list based on qualifying examination marks
  3. Document verification
  4. Apprenticeship training for selected candidates

Where two or more candidates have equal qualifying marks, the older candidate will receive preference.

Candidates selected for apprenticeship must also satisfy the minimum physical fitness requirements prescribed under the Apprentices Act and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.

Completion of the apprenticeship programme does not give apprentices a guaranteed right to employment with BHEL.

Candidates must complete a two-stage online registration process. Applications through any other mode will not be accepted.

Step 1: Apprenticeship India Registration

  1. Visit the Apprenticeship India portal.
  2. Register as a candidate and complete the required profile information.
  3. Complete Aadhaar verification and e-KYC.
  4. Provide the required bank details.
  5. Complete registration and note the 10-digit Apprenticeship India registration number.
