The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has invited applications for 39 Consultant positions from retired Short Service Commission Officers (SSCOs) of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. The AAI Consultant Recruitment 2026 will deploy selected personnel for Air Traffic Services-related duties at six Joint User Defence Airfields, including Pune, Kanpur, Purnea, Goa (Dabolim), Port Blair and Darbhanga.

Applications are being accepted through email, with October 1, 2026 set as the closing date. Candidates must be graduates and possess the prescribed Air Traffic Control professional qualifications, along with at least five years of experience in ATC duties. Of this experience, a minimum of one year must have been completed at a Joint User Defence Airfield.

The engagement will initially be for one year and may be extended for up to five years, subject to requirements and applicable conditions. Applicants must not be more than 50 years old as on October 1, 2026, while any extension cannot continue beyond the age of 55. Selection will be based on application verification and interview without a written examination.

AAI SSCO Consultant Vacancy Details

The 39 vacancies are spread across six airports. Goa (Dabolim) has the largest allocation with 15 positions, followed by Pune with 11.

Qualification and Experience

The AAI Consultant vacancies are specifically meant for retired Short Service Commission Officers from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force or Coast Guard who meet the prescribed aviation and ATC requirements.

Candidates must possess a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

In addition, applicants must possess the specified professional qualification covering Basic ATC Course/ATM and AL (Basic) and GCA/ATSS Course.

Candidates must have at least five years of experience performing Air Traffic Control duties. The experience requirement includes a minimum of one year of ATC duties at a Joint User Defence Airfield.

Age Limit

Applicants must not be more than 50 years old as on October 1, 2026.

The period between retirement and the last date for submitting the application must also not exceed six years.

Where the consultancy is extended beyond its initial term, the engagement cannot continue beyond the consultant attaining 55 years of age.

Consultant Remuneration

The selected SSCO Consultants will receive fixed monthly remuneration determined according to the applicable Department of Personnel and Training provisions.

The remuneration is calculated by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement. The resulting fixed amount remains unchanged during the contractual engagement.

Transport Allowance for commuting is admissible under the applicable provisions, while House Rent Allowance is not payable. Applicable TDS will be deducted from the remuneration.

Selection Process

AAI will shortlist eligible applicants based on the applications received and the prescribed requirements. Shortlisted candidates will undergo application and document verification before appearing for an interview.

There is no written examination specified for this recruitment. Final selection will be based on interview performance, subject to verification of eligibility, documents and other applicable conditions.

Contract Period and Conditions

The initial Consultant engagement will be for one year. It may be extended subject to AAI requirements, satisfactory performance and applicable conditions, with the overall engagement potentially continuing for up to five years without exceeding the maximum age of 55.

The engagement requires full-time commitment, and selected Consultants cannot undertake other assignments during the contract period.

Consultants are eligible for leave at the rate of 1.5 days for each completed month of service. Unused leave cannot be carried forward or encashed.

A medical fitness certificate may also be required before commencement of the contractual engagement.
