Coal India Limited released the Management Trainee Admit Card on August 21, 2026, for candidates appearing in the Computer-Based Test scheduled for August 24, 2026. The recruitment covers 660 vacancies in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, System, Electronics & Communication, Geology and other disciplines. Selected candidates will join in E-1 Grade with an initial basic pay of ₹60,000 per month and a pay scale of ₹60,000 to ₹1,80,000.

Coal India Limited has activated the admit card facility for candidates appearing in the Management Trainee recruitment examination. Applicants who successfully submitted their applications during the registration period can access their examination admit cards through the official CIL recruitment portal.

The admit card was issued on August 21, just three days before the scheduled Computer-Based Test. Candidates should download it well before the examination and carefully check the information printed on it, particularly their name, roll number, examination centre, reporting time and examination-related instructions.

The Coal India MT recruitment notification was initially released on May 6, 2026. Online applications began on May 12, while the extended deadline for submitting applications was June 21, 2026.

Coal India is conducting this recruitment drive to fill 660 Management Trainee positions in nine disciplines. Electrical has the largest share with 221 vacancies, followed by Civil with 178 posts and Mechanical with 145 posts.

Candidates are required to possess a B.Tech, degree or other relevant qualification in the concerned field, depending upon the discipline for which they applied. Applicants should refer to the detailed recruitment notification for discipline-specific educational requirements.

Coal India MT Age Limit

For General and EWS category candidates, the upper age limit was fixed at 30 years as on April 30, 2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable to candidates belonging to reserved categories in accordance with the recruitment rules and Government of India guidelines.

Candidates’ eligibility will be verified during the document verification stage. Applicants must therefore produce valid certificates supporting their age, educational qualification, category and other claims when called for verification.

Coal India MT Selection Process

Coal India will primarily select candidates on the basis of their performance in the Computer-Based Online Test. There is no interview stage for final selection under this recruitment process.

Candidates who qualify in the CBT will subsequently be required to complete document verification and the prescribed medical examination. Final appointment will depend on candidates satisfying all eligibility and medical requirements specified by Coal India Limited.

Coal India MT CBT Exam Pattern 2026

The Computer-Based Test will be conducted for three hours in a single sitting and will consist of two papers. Paper-I will assess candidates on general subjects, while Paper-II will test professional knowledge related to the discipline for which the candidate has applied.

Each question will carry one mark and there will be no negative marking for incorrect responses. Both papers will contain multiple-choice questions and will be available bilingually in English and Hindi.

Candidates belonging to General and EWS categories need to secure at least 40 marks to qualify. The qualifying requirement is 35 marks for OBC-NCL candidates and 30 marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates.

Coal India MT Salary 2026

Candidates appointed as Management Trainees will join Coal India Limited in E-1 Grade carrying a pay scale of ₹60,000 to ₹1,80,000. During the training period, Management Trainees will receive an initial basic pay of ₹60,000 per month.

Following successful completion of one year of training-cum-probation, candidates will be confirmed in E-1 Grade as Officers in their respective disciplines.

In addition to basic pay, employees are eligible for benefits such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, applicable perquisites and allowances, Performance Related Pay, medical facilities, CMPF, CMPS, gratuity and pension-related benefits according to company rules.

Coal India MT Service Agreement Bond

Candidates selected for appointment should also take note of the service agreement requirement. Selected Management Trainees will be required to serve Coal India for a minimum of 60 months from their date of joining.

At the time of joining, candidates will have to execute a service agreement bond worth ₹3 lakh. An amount of ₹5,000 per month will be deducted from the employee’s salary towards the bond money. The accumulated amount will be refunded without interest after successful completion of the stipulated 60-month service period.
