Income Tax Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: 82 Tax Assistant and MTS Vacancies, Apply Offline by September 30

The Income Tax Department has invited applications from meritorious sportspersons for 82 Group ‘C’ vacancies in the West Bengal & Sikkim Region. The recruitment covers 25 Tax Assistant (TA) and 57 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) posts across 17 recognised sports disciplines, with applications being accepted through offline mode.

The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, West Bengal & Sikkim Region issued the recruitment notice on August 27, 2026. Eligible candidates can apply for Tax Assistant, MTS or both posts in a single application according to their preference. Completed applications must reach the designated office in Kolkata by September 30, 2026.

Income Tax Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Notification

The Income Tax Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 is being conducted for meritorious sportspersons who have achieved the prescribed level of representation or performance in recognised sporting events.

Income Tax Sports Quota Vacancy 2026

The majority of the 82 vacancies are for Multi-Tasking Staff, with 57 positions available. Another 25 vacancies have been notified for Tax Assistant.

The recruitment covers meritorious sportspersons from 17 recognised sports disciplines.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must satisfy both the educational and Sports Quota requirements applicable to the post.

Tax Assistant

Candidates applying for Tax Assistant must possess a graduate degree and meet the prescribed sports eligibility requirements.

Candidates selected for Tax Assistant must also qualify in the Data Entry Skill Test at the prescribed standard of 8,000 key depressions per hour.

Multi-Tasking Staff

Applicants for Multi-Tasking Staff must have passed Matriculation/Class 10 and satisfy the prescribed Sports Quota eligibility conditions.

Sports Eligibility Criteria

Sports achievements considered for eligibility must fall within the period from January 1, 2022 to June 30, 2026.

Candidates meeting any of the prescribed levels of sporting representation or achievement can be considered, including those who have:

• Represented India in an international competition.
• Represented a State or Union Territory in Senior or Junior National Championships.
• Won medals in recognised Khelo India Youth, Winter, Para or University Games or SGFI School Games, as applicable.
• Represented a university in Inter-University Tournaments.
• Represented a State School Team in National Sports/Games for Schools conducted by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).

Candidates must provide the prescribed sports certificates in the required format to establish their eligibility.

Age Limit

The age requirements differ for Tax Assistant and Multi-Tasking Staff and will be calculated as on July 1, 2026.

Applicable age relaxation will be provided according to the rules governing the recruitment of meritorious sportspersons and other eligible categories.

Application Fee

There is no application fee for the Income Tax West Bengal & Sikkim Sports Quota Recruitment 2026.

Income Tax Sports Quota Selection Process

Selection will begin with scrutiny and shortlisting of applications based on candidates’ sports achievements and prescribed eligibility requirements.

Shortlisted applicants will proceed through the subsequent recruitment stages, which include:

2. Document Verification
3. Ground/Field Proficiency Test
4. Data Entry Skill Test for Tax Assistant
5. Medical Examination

The Data Entry Skill Test is applicable only to candidates being considered for Tax Assistant and requires a speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour.

How to Apply for Income Tax Sports Quota Recruitment 2026

Candidates must submit a physical application using the prescribed Annexure-A form and also provide their details through the official Google Form specified in the recruitment notice.

1. Download the Income Tax Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 notification and print the prescribed application form given as Annexure-A.
2. Fill in the application form in capital letters using black or blue dot ink.
3. Indicate whether you are applying for Tax Assistant, Multi-Tasking Staff or both posts, according to the instructions.
4. Attach the required photographs and photocopies of educational, age and other supporting documents.
5. Attach the applicable sports certificates in the prescribed Form 1 to Form 5, as required.
6. Ensure that document photocopies are attested by a Gazetted Officer as prescribed.
7. Place the completed application and supporting documents in an envelope.
8. Superscribe the envelope with: “APPLICATION FOR THE POST(S) OF __________ FOR RECRUITMENT OF MERITORIOUS SPORTS PERSONS IN INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT, WEST BENGAL & SIKKIM”.
9. Send the application through Ordinary Post, Speed Post, Registered Post or Courier so that it reaches the designated office by September 30, 2026.
10. Complete the official Google Form mentioned in the recruitment notice as an additional application requirement.
