Border Security Force is the paramilitary force of India that guards the Indian borders with Pakistan, China, and Bangladesh. Founded on December 1, 1965, the Border Security Force prevents transnational crime and ensures the safety of every citizen of India. Being said that, the Border Security Force currently stands as the largest security force guarding the country’s borders with more than 25 lakh personnel. It is the reason why the Border Security Force is termed as the First Line of Defense of Indian Territories.
Being said that, every year Border Security Force conducts the exam to recruit qualified individuals for several posts in their force. Some of the posts for which the Border Security Force conducts exams include Sub-Inspector (SI), Head Constable (HC), and Constable Tradesman (CT) among many others. In this article, we will discuss the Border Security Force exam along with other details such as eligibility criteria, syllabus, and much more.
Border Security Force Exam
Every year Border Security Force conducts the Border Security Force (BSF) Exam to recruit individuals for several different positions as discussed-above. Being said that, if you are looking to join the Border Security Force and serve the country with the paramilitary force of India, there are certain criteria that you are required to meet.
Eligibility Criteria for Border Security Force (BSF) Recruitment
The following are the different eligibility criteria that the candidate is required to meet to appear for the Border Security Force (BSF) exam.
- Educational Qualification – You must have cleared 10 + 2 standard or matriculation from one of the many recognized universities in India.
- Nationality – You must have a citizen of India and must also be a permanent resident of India.
- Age Limit – You must be in the age group of 20 to 28 years to become eligible for the Border Security Force Exam. However, this age group can change depending on the post you are applying for.
In the case of SC, and ST candidates, the upper age limit has a relaxation of 5 years and the OBC candidates have a relaxation of 3 years. These are the three eligibility criteria that you are required to fulfill to appear for the Border Security Force exam.
Selection Process for BSF Recruitment
The selection process of the Border Security Force includes a number of different steps. These various stages of the selection process of the Border Security Force exam include physical standard test, physical examination test, written test, trade test, medical test, and merit list. These are the different stages that the candidate is required to undergo to join Border Security Force. Being said that, only if your name appears on the merit list, then you can join Border Security Force in your chosen trade with the paramilitary force.
In the first phase of the selection process, the candidates are required to appear for the written test. Once you clear the written test, then you can appear for the physical standard test and physical examination test conducted by the Border Security Force. However, if you do not clear the written test, then you cannot appear for the physical standard test and physical examination test.
Along with the written test, you might also have to appear for a trade test, depending upon the trade you are willing to join with the Border Security Force. In the third phase of the Border Security Force Exam, you will have to appear for the medical test. Once you clear the written test and the trade test, you can appear for the medical test. If you fail to clear the written test, you get disqualified from the Border Security Force Exam.
After clearing the medical test, Border Security Force publishes the merit list. Only those candidates get hired whose names appear on the merit list. Written Exam Pattern for BSF Recruitment
Different posts have a different pattern in the Border Security Force BSF recruitment exam. For instance, the post of SI has the following exam pattern.
The written exam of the Border Security Force consists of four different sections. These include general knowledge, reasoning ability, numerical ability, and trade awareness. Each of these four sections in the Border Security Force exam consists of equal distribution of marks.
For instance, the general knowledge section consists of 25 marks, the reasoning ability section consists of 25 marks, the numerical ability section consists of 25 marks, and the trade awareness section consists of 25 marks as well.
