The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the final merit list for the Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’ Examination, 2025. SSC released the final merit list on August 25, 2026, following the revised First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) issued on July 31. The Commission had earlier declared the Computer Based Examination result on November 28, 2025. Candidates who qualified the required stages and participated in the preference and allocation process were considered for final selection according to their merit, eligibility, preferences and applicable recruitment rules.

SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Final Result 2026

The SSC Stenographer examination is conducted for recruitment to Grade C and Grade D stenographer positions in various ministries, departments and organizations under the Government of India.

The Computer Based Examination result for the 2025 examination cycle was announced on November 28, 2025. Candidates shortlisted through the CBE subsequently participated in the Stenography Skill Test.

After completion of the examination stages, candidates eligible for further consideration were required to submit their option-cum-preferences between May 5 and May 8, 2026. These preferences played an important role in determining allocation to available posts and departments.

SSC has now released the final merit list on August 25, bringing the recruitment process closer to completion for candidates recommended for appointment.

SSC Stenographer First Round of Tentative Allocation

The First Round of Tentative Allocation was conducted using the Sliding Mechanism introduced by SSC. The allocation process considered candidates who had successfully submitted their online option-cum-preference within the prescribed period.

A total of 10,132 candidates were considered for selection according to the information provided for the recruitment process.

Under the sliding mechanism, candidates were provided an opportunity to exercise the prescribed choice during the window from June 19 to June 22, 2026. The revised First Round of Tentative Allocation was subsequently issued on July 31 before publication of the final merit list on August 25.

The Computer Based Examination result was declared on November 28, 2025. Qualified candidates subsequently progressed through the Skill Test and allocation-related procedures.

The option-cum-preference window remained available from May 5 to May 8, 2026. The sliding process choice window was later opened from June 19 to June 22.

SSC issued the revised FRTA on July 31, 2026, followed by the final merit list on August 25.

SSC Stenographer Grade C Vacancy and Selection Details

A total of 232 vacancies were reported for Stenographer Grade C. Against these vacancies, 228 candidates were recommended in the category-wise figures provided.

The Unreserved category accounted for the largest share, with 119 vacancies and 119 candidates recommended. OBC had 50 vacancies with all 50 positions matched by recommended candidates, while EWS had 27 vacancies and 27 recommendations.

For SC candidates, 22 vacancies were available and 22 candidates were recommended. The ST category had 14 vacancies, against which 10 candidates were recommended.

SSC Stenographer Grade C PwBD Selection Details

The Grade C figures also include horizontal reservation information for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities. Two OH vacancies were reported, but no candidate was recommended against them in the supplied figures.

For the HH category, one candidate was recommended against two vacancies, while two candidates were recommended against three VH vacancies. No vacancy was listed under PwBD Others.

SSC Stenographer Grade D Horizontal Category Details

Under the horizontal reservation figures for Grade D, 106 vacancies were shown for Ex-Servicemen, against which five candidates were recommended.

For OH candidates, all 15 listed vacancies had recommendations. The HH category had 16 vacancies and 11 recommended candidates, while all 12 VH vacancies had recommended candidates. The PwBD Others category had nine vacancies, against which two candidates were recommended.

The horizontal-category figures overlap with the broader category-wise selection structure and should therefore not be added separately to the 1,483 Grade D total.
