ICAR AIEEA PG 2026 Courses

The AIEEA PG examination provides an admission route to a broad range of postgraduate programmes in agriculture and allied sciences. Eligible subject areas include Plant Biotechnology, Plant Science, Physical Science, Entomology and Nematology, Agronomy, Social Science, Statistical Science, Horticulture and Forestry.

Programmes are also available in Agriculture and Engineering, Water Science and Technology, Home Science, Animal Biotechnology, Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Fisheries Science, Dairy Science, Dairy Technology, Food Science Technology and Agri Business Management.

Candidates should check the programme-specific eligibility requirements before participating in counselling because the required undergraduate discipline can vary according to the postgraduate course selected.

ICAR PhD and JRF/SRF Disciplines

The doctoral examination covers several specialised agricultural and allied disciplines. These include Crop Sciences I, II and III; Horticulture; Veterinary and Animal Science I, II and III; Dairy Science; and Dairy Technology and Food Technology.

Other disciplines include Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Home Science, Fishery Science, Natural Science Management I and II, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Extension and Agricultural Statistics.

Candidates should verify the exact discipline and qualification requirements applicable to their intended doctoral programme while preparing for the counselling and admission stages.

Educational Qualification

For admission to AIEEA PG programmes, candidates are required to possess a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject or an equivalent qualification accepted under the admission rules. The required undergraduate discipline may vary according to the postgraduate programme.

Candidates seeking admission through the PhD examination must hold a Master’s degree in the relevant subject. Applicants should consult the programme-wise eligibility provisions because merely holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree may not automatically establish eligibility for every discipline.

Age Limit

The stated minimum age for candidates seeking admission to postgraduate programmes is 19 years as per the applicable cut-off conditions. For PhD candidates, the minimum age is 20 years.

Candidates should check the official examination guidelines for the precise age calculation rules and any additional provisions applicable to their admission category.

NTA ICAR AIEEA PG and PhD Application Fee

The application fee differed between the postgraduate and doctoral entrance examinations. For AIEEA PG, General candidates were required to pay Rs. 1,300, while OBC and EWS candidates paid Rs. 1,255. The fee for SC, ST and PwD candidates was Rs. 675.

For the AICE-JRF/SRF (PhD) examination, the application fee was Rs. 2,000 for General candidates and Rs. 1,955 for EWS and OBC candidates. SC, ST and PwD applicants were required to pay Rs. 1,075.
The fee could be paid through the supported online payment options, including debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS and available cash card or mobile wallet services.

Selection and Admission Process

The admission process begins with the Computer-Based Test conducted by NTA. Candidate performance is used for preparing the applicable merit list, after which qualified applicants can participate in the further admission process according to the rules prescribed for their programme.

The subsequent stages include counselling and seat allotment. Candidates seeking applicable fellowship or scholarship benefits may also be considered for scholarship allocation according to their merit and the relevant ICAR rules.

Document verification forms an important part of the admission process. Candidates should therefore keep their educational certificates, identity documents, category certificates and other required records ready after the result is announced.

ICAR Counselling After Result

Qualifying the entrance examination does not by itself complete the admission process. Candidates declared eligible through the result will have to follow the counselling procedure and exercise their programme or institution choices according to the schedule and rules subsequently announced.

Seat allotment will depend on factors such as merit, programme preference, eligibility and availability of seats. Candidates receiving an allotment must complete the required admission and document verification formalities within the prescribed schedule.

Applicants should therefore continue monitoring official updates even after downloading their result, as missing a counselling or reporting deadline could affect admission.
