HTET Levels and Eligibility
HTET is conducted at three levels according to the teaching category. Level 1 is intended for Primary Teacher eligibility, Level 2 covers TGT eligibility and Level 3 is for PGT/Lecturer eligibility.
The educational requirements vary considerably between these levels. Candidates must therefore satisfy the qualification requirements applicable to the level for which they appeared.
HTET Level 1 PRT Eligibility
For Level 1 Primary Teacher eligibility, candidates may qualify through different combinations of academic and teacher-training qualifications.
Applicants may have passed 10+2 Intermediate with at least 50% marks along with a passed or appearing two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, Special Education or another prescribed elementary teacher education qualification. Certain qualification routes allow 10+2 with 45% marks along with the required diploma.
Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree in any stream along with the prescribed two-year elementary or special education qualification may also be eligible, subject to the detailed HTET notification.
HTET Level 2 TGT Eligibility
For Level 2 TGT, candidates may possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks along with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or the prescribed B.Ed/Special B.Ed qualification.
Another eligibility route includes 10+2 with at least 50% marks along with a four-year integrated BA-B.Ed or B.Com-B.Ed qualification. Candidates should check the subject-specific and qualification-specific provisions in the official notification.
HTET Level 3 PGT Eligibility
Candidates appearing for Level 3 PGT/Lecturer generally need a Master’s degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks along with a B.Ed degree.
Since PGT eligibility can vary by subject, candidates should refer to the official HTET notification for detailed subject combinations and other academic requirements.
Haryana HTET Application Fee
The application fee depended on the number of HTET levels selected and the candidate’s category. For one level, General, OBC, EWS and other-state candidates were required to pay Rs. 1,000, while eligible SC and PH candidates of Haryana paid Rs. 500.
For two levels, the fee was Rs. 1,800 for General/OBC/EWS and other-state applicants and Rs. 900 for eligible Haryana SC/PH candidates. For all three levels, the respective fees were Rs. 2,400 and Rs. 1,200.
| Number of Levels | General/OBC/EWS & Other State | Haryana SC/PH |
|---|---|---|
| One Level | Rs. 1,000 | Rs. 500 |
| Two Levels | Rs. 1,800 | Rs. 900 |
| Three Levels | Rs. 2,400 | Rs. 1,200 |
The fee was payable online using the payment options supported by the application portal, including debit card, credit card and internet banking.
HTET Score Card and Teacher Recruitment
Candidates should note that HTET is a teacher eligibility examination rather than a recruitment drive for a fixed number of PRT, TGT or PGT vacancies. Therefore, no total vacancy figure or salary is attached directly to the HTET examination.
Qualifying HTET establishes teacher eligibility subject to the rules applicable to relevant recruitment exercises. Candidates still need to satisfy the educational, age, category, experience and other requirements specified whenever a separate teaching recruitment notification is issued.
