ISRO SAC Recruitment 2026 Notice Out for 48 JRF, Research Associate and Project Scientist Vacancies With Pay Ranging from ₹37,000 to ₹67,000

The Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad, under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Department of Space, has opened recruitment for 48 temporary project positions under Advertisement No. SAC:02:2026. The recruitment includes Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Research Associate (RA) and Project Scientist-I posts across 16 technical and scientific specialisations.

Online registration began at 10 AM on September 10, 2026 and will close at 5 PM on September 30. Candidates with the prescribed B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech, M.Sc or Ph.D qualifications can apply according to the relevant post code. JRF applicants additionally need a valid NET, GATE or equivalent national-level test as prescribed. No application fee is charged.

Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply. These project positions do not confer any right to regular appointment in ISRO or the Department of Space.

Qualification Requirements

Junior Research Fellow

For JRF post codes 01 to 07, candidates need the prescribed B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech or M.Sc qualification in the relevant discipline.

Applicants must also possess a valid NET, GATE or equivalent national-level test qualification as on September 30, 2026.

Research Associate

For Research Associate post codes 08 to 10, candidates generally require a Ph.D in the relevant discipline.

For Post Code 08, the prescribed alternative route includes three years of research, teaching, design or development experience after M.E./M.Tech, along with at least one research paper published in an SCI journal.

Project Scientist-I

For Project Scientist-I post codes 11 to 16, the required qualification is Ph.D and/or M.E./M.Tech in the relevant specialisation, depending on the individual post code.

Rounding off of marks and conversion between CGPA and percentage are not permitted for meeting the prescribed eligibility threshold.

Candidates pursuing professional courses through Open and Distance Learning mode are not eligible. Applicants whose final result has not been declared by September 30, 2026 are also not eligible.

Age relaxation is five years for SC/ST candidates and three years for OBC-NCL candidates. Other Government of India relaxations apply where applicable.

Fellowship and Salary

The remuneration depends on the post and, for Research Associates, the applicable RA level.

HRA will be payable where hostel accommodation is not provided. The engagement also provides medical facility for the selected candidate only, subject to the applicable terms.

Continuation beyond the initial period will be governed by project requirements and the applicable engagement conditions.

ISRO SAC Selection Process

Selection will be based on interview.

Where the number of applicants is high, SAC may first shortlist candidates on the basis of academic performance, specialisation and other relevant criteria.

The process will therefore involve:

The shortlist and interview schedule will be published on the SAC website. Interview call letters will be sent by email only to shortlisted candidates.

The final panel will be prepared on the basis of interview performance.

  2. Open Advertisement No. SAC:02:2026 for JRF, Research Associate and Project Scientist-I recruitment.
  3. Register on the portal and complete all mandatory fields carefully.
  4. Select the appropriate post code based on your qualification and specialisation.
  5. Upload a colour photograph in JPEG format of less than 1 MB.
  6. Upload the signature in JPEG format of less than 1 MB in the prescribed 7:2 ratio.
  7. Upload qualification, caste, PwBD and other required certificates, each within the prescribed file-size limit.
  8. Review all information carefully because the application can be submitted only once and correction is not permitted after final submission.
  9. Submit the application before 5 PM on September 30, 2026 and note the generated application number.
  10. Print the application summary immediately after submission, as printing will not be available after the application portal closes.
