The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has released the official SLST Assistant Teacher Recruitment Notification 2025, inviting online applications to fill a massive 35,726 vacancies across various government-aided schools in the state. The recruitment covers Assistant Teacher positions at the Upper Primary, Secondary, and Higher Secondary levels. This presents an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers with the required qualifications to secure a permanent teaching post under the West Bengal education system. The recruitment process is governed by the provisions of the 7th Pay Commission, offering a competitive salary in Pay Level 10 along with various benefits like House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), and medical benefits. The online application window opens on June 16, 2025, and will remain active until July 14, 2025. Selection of candidates will be based on a written examination followed by a personality test.

Eligibility criteria and requirement

Applicants must be Indian citizens and residents of West Bengal. They must meet the education and age requirements and possess the necessary certifications. Applications that are incomplete or do not meet the eligibility conditions will be automatically rejected.

Education

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant subject along with a B.Ed qualification. Additionally, a valid Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) certificate is mandatory to apply for any of the Assistant Teacher posts.

Salary

Selected candidates will receive a salary as per Pay Level 10, approximately ranging from ₹33,000 to ₹50,000 per month, in addition to HRA, DA, and other applicable benefits under the 7th Pay Commission.

Age Limit

Applicants should be at least 21 years old and not more than 40 years as of January 1, 2025. Age relaxation will be applicable for reserved categories as per West Bengal government rules.

• General, OBC, EBC (CL), and candidates from other states: ₹500
• SC, ST, PWD, Ex-servicemen candidates: ₹200
  The application fee must be paid online by July 14, 2025.
