Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, has released a recruitment notification for the post of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the Department of Civil Engineering under a CSIR-HRDG-ASPIRE funded research project. This is a temporary, project-based position offering an excellent opportunity for candidates with a postgraduate degree in Transportation Engineering and hands-on research experience. Candidates with knowledge of simulation tools, pedestrian safety studies, and statistical analysis are especially encouraged to apply. The appointment will be purely on a contractual basis. VNIT Nagpur Senior Research Fellow Vacancy

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering with at least 60% marks
• M.E./M.Tech. in Transportation Engineering with at least 60% marks

OR

• Candidates with two years of research experience in Transportation Engineering and at least one research paper in an SCI/Scopus-indexed journal

Desirable Skills

• Pedestrian safety and signal design
• Simulation experience using VISSIM
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis
• Proficiency in Python or C++ programming

Salary

• Rs. 42,000/- per month (Consolidated)

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 32 years (as on 20th January 2026)
• Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC, Women, and PwD candidates as per rules

Selection Process

• Shortlisting based on academic performance and research/professional experience
