SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 Notice Out for 2,536 LDC, JSA and DEO Vacancies through Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has opened applications for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2026, announcing 2,536 vacancies for Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ posts. Appointments will be made to Group C positions across various Central Government ministries, departments, offices, Constitutional and Statutory Bodies and Tribunals.

SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 registration started on September 7 and will remain open until 11 PM on October 7. Candidates who have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination can apply for most posts, while specified DEO vacancies require Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.

The posts carry pay scales from Level 2 to Level 5, ranging from ₹19,900 to ₹92,300. Candidates will be selected through Tier I and Tier II computer-based examinations followed by the applicable Skill Test or Typing Test and subsequent verification requirements.

SSC CHSL Qualification

For LDC, JSA and most DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ positions, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

For specified DEO and DEO Grade ‘A’ positions in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.

The educational qualification must be acquired on or before October 7, 2026. Candidates who have appeared in their Class 12 or equivalent examination may submit an application, but they must possess the required qualification by the cut-off date.

Age Limit

Applicants must be between 18 and 27 years old as on August 1, 2026.

Candidates should have been born not earlier than August 2, 1999, and not later than August 1, 2008.

SSC CHSL 2026 Exam Pattern

Tier I Examination

Tier I will be conducted as a Computer Based Examination consisting of 100 questions carrying 200 marks.

Candidates will receive 60 minutes to complete Tier I. For each incorrect response, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

Tier II Examination

Tier II will include Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge, followed by the applicable Skill Test or Typing Test.

The prescribed time for Session I is two hours and 15 minutes, divided among its respective sections/modules.

Selection Process

SSC CHSL 2026 will use a multi-stage examination and qualifying skill assessment.

The recruitment process includes:

  3. Skill Test for DEO posts or Typing Test for LDC/JSA
  4. Document Verification
  5. Medical/fitness requirements, as applicable

  6. Pay the ₹100 application fee online if you are not covered by a fee exemption.
  7. Review the application carefully and submit it by 11 PM on October 7, 2026.
  8. Retain the submitted application or confirmation details for future reference.
  9. Candidates requiring changes can use the prescribed correction window from October 14 to 16, 2026.
