State Bank of India (SBI) has opened the SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 process for 9,766 Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) vacancies in the clerical cadre under Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/2026-27/17. The recruitment includes 7,680 regular vacancies and 2,086 backlog vacancies distributed across multiple SBI circles, States and Union Territories.

The SBI Clerk 2026 online application process started on August 11, 2026 and will close on August 31, 2026. Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory and must possess the required proficiency in the specified local language for that State/UT.

Graduation in any discipline is the basic educational qualification. The selection process consists of an online Preliminary Examination, followed by the Mains Examination and a Local Language Proficiency Test where applicable. There is no interview, and final merit will be based on Mains examination marks.

SBI Clerk 2026 Circle-wise Vacancy Details

Candidates can apply against vacancies in only one State or Union Territory. The largest number of vacancies is available in Maharashtra, followed by Tamil Nadu and Odisha.

Junior Associates cannot seek Inter-Circle or Inter-State transfer before completing five years of service, as stated in the recruitment details.

SBI Clerk Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

The educational qualification must be completed by December 31, 2026. Candidates possessing an Integrated Dual Degree must also have completed the qualification on or before that date.

Local Language Requirement

Applicants must be able to read, write, speak and understand the specified local language of the State or Union Territory for which they apply.

Candidates who studied the relevant local language in Class 10 or Class 12 are exempt from the Local Language Proficiency Test. Other shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo the LLPT before appointment.

SBI Clerk Age Limit 2026

Candidates must be at least 20 years old and not more than 28 years old as on April 1, 2026.

Applicants should have been born between April 2, 1998 and April 1, 2006, both dates inclusive.

SBI Clerk Salary 2026

The Junior Associate pay scale is:

₹24,050 – 1,340/3 – 28,070 – 1,650/3 – 33,020 – 2,000/4 – 41,020 – 2,340/7 – 57,400 – 4,400/1 – 61,800 – 2,680/1 – 64,480.

Graduate recruits receive two advance increments, taking the starting basic pay to ₹26,730.

In addition to basic pay, selected candidates are eligible for applicable allowances and benefits including DA, PF, NPS, medical facilities, Leave Fare Concession and other admissible perquisites.

SBI Clerk 2026 Selection Process

The SBI Junior Associate recruitment process consists of:

1. Online Preliminary Examination
2. Online Mains Examination
3. Local Language Proficiency Test, where applicable

There is no interview.

Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are used for shortlisting and are not added to the final merit. Final selection is based on marks secured in the Mains Examination, subject to qualifying the local language requirement.

Both examinations carry sectional timing. A penalty of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question applies for each incorrect answer.
