Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has announced 172 Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) vacancies in the Odisha State Prosecution Service under the Home Department. The Group-B recruitment is open to law graduates who meet the prescribed professional experience and Odia language requirements.

Online registration for the OPSC APP recruitment will begin on August 28, 2026 and close at 5:00 PM on September 28, 2026. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and have at least two years of experience as a practicing advocate. The post carries Pay Level 10, starting at ₹44,900, along with applicable allowances.

Educational Qualification and Experience

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.

In addition to the academic qualification, applicants should have at least two years of experience as a practicing advocate. The required professional experience must be supported by the prescribed certificate from the District & Sessions Judge along with Bar Council enrolment details.

Applicants must also satisfy the Odia language requirement. This can be met through the prescribed Middle School Odia language test or by having passed Matriculation or an equivalent examination with Odia as a subject, subject to the conditions in the notification.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

OPSC will select Assistant Public Prosecutors through three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Written Examination and Interview.

The Preliminary Examination serves as a screening stage. There will be negative marking in the preliminary test, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer.

Final merit will be determined on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Written Examination and Interview, carrying a combined 650 marks.

OPSC APP Salary

Assistant Public Prosecutor is a Group-B position carrying Pay Level 10 with an initial basic pay of ₹44,900.

Selected candidates will also receive applicable allowances such as Dearness Allowance and House Rent Allowance in accordance with the Odisha Revised Scales of Pay Rules, 2017 and other applicable government rules.
