Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

The educational requirements vary by branch. Below are the major criteria:

  • Executive Branch (GS(X), Pilot, NAOO, ATC): BE/B.Tech in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.
  • Logistics: BE/B.Tech or MBA or BSc/BCom/BSc(IT) with PG Diploma in Finance/Supply Chain/Material Management, or MCA/MSc (IT), all with minimum 60% marks.
  • Education Branch: MSc, BE/BTech, or ME/MTech in various disciplines (Maths, Physics, IT, Electronics, etc.) with 60% marks. Must also have 60% in English in Class X or XII.
  • Technical (Engineering/Electrical): BE/BTech with 60% marks in specified engineering disciplines.
  • Naval Constructor: BE/BTech in Civil, Mechanical, Marine, Aeronautical, Naval Architecture, etc., with 60% marks.
  • Law: Degree in Law (LLB) with minimum 55% marks and registration eligible as per Advocates Act, 1961.

Note: Final year candidates may apply provided they meet the degree requirements before June 2026.

Age Limit

  • Executive (GS, Logistics, Technical, Education): Born between 02 July 2001 to 01 January 2007
  • Pilot/NAOO: 02 July 2002 to 01 July 2007
  • ATC: 02 July 2001 to 01 July 2005
  • Law: 02 July 1999 to 01 July 2004
  • Education (MTech/MSc cases): 02 July 1999 to 01 July 2005

Salary and Benefits

  • The initial gross salary of a Sub Lieutenant is approximately ₹1,10,000 per month.
  • Special allowances like Flying Allowance (₹31,250) and Submarine Allowance are provided where applicable.
  • Other benefits include medical coverage, group insurance, accommodation, and generous leave policies.

Selection Process

This recruitment is unique because there is no written exam. Selection will be based on:

  1. Shortlisting based on normalized marks of qualifying degree.
  2. SSB Interview

For BE/BTech applicants, marks up to the 5th semester will be considered; for PG programs, pre-final year marks will be used.

The initial Short Service Commission (SSC) is granted for a period of 12 years, which may be extended by an additional 2 years depending on service performance and organizational requirements. The probation period for most entries is 2 years, while for the NAIC entry it is 3 years. Candidates applying must be unmarried at the time of joining and are required to remain unmarried throughout the duration of their training.
