Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, has released an official notification for recruitment to 10 Scientist ‘C’ posts through direct recruitment. This is a prestigious Group ‘A’ scientific position for highly qualified candidates holding Ph.D. or M.D. degrees in relevant disciplines. The recruitment will be conducted through a competitive examination process comprising a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by a Personal Interview. Selected candidates will be appointed under Pay Level-11 of the 7th CPC and may be posted anywhere in India or abroad. Salary

Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-11 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700). Pre-revised pay scale corresponds to ₹15,600 – ₹39,100 + Grade Pay ₹6,600. Allowances will be admissible as per Government of India rules.

Selection Process

Selection will be conducted in two stages.

Stage I: Computer-Based Written Examination (CBT)

Objective type examination consisting of 200 questions carrying 200 marks. Duration is 120 minutes (160 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates). Negative marking of 0.5 mark for each wrong answer.

Part A will include General Aptitude covering General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Mathematics, Reasoning, and General Science (100 questions).
Part B will include Scientific Knowledge relevant to the candidate’s qualification (100 questions).

Stage II: Personal Interview

Candidates shortlisted based on written exam performance (approximately five times the number of vacancies) will be called for interview. Final merit will be prepared based on total 400 marks (Written 200 + Interview 200). A reserve panel will remain valid for one year.
