The Government of Meghalaya’s Secretariat Administration Department (Nazarat) has invited online applications for 153 Grade IV vacancies in the Meghalaya Civil Secretariat. The recruitment includes 124 Peon, 17 Cleaner, six Sweeper, three Chowkidar and three Mali positions, with applications accepted until 5:00 PM on September 18, 2026.

Candidates require a minimum Class VI qualification and must be between 18 and 32 years of age as of January 1, 2026, subject to applicable relaxation. The advertised posts are placed at Level-1, with a pay range of ₹18,000–56,900 along with applicable allowances.

Selection will be based on a written examination carrying 100 marks, divided equally between General English and General Awareness. No interview will be conducted. The examination is proposed at centres including Shillong, Tura, Jowai, Nongstoin and Nongpoh.

Qualification Requirements

Candidates applying for Peon, Cleaner, Sweeper, Chowkidar or Mali posts must have passed Class VI.

Applicants must also be Indian citizens as prescribed under the recruitment conditions.

Salary and Pay Level

The normal examination duration is one hour. PwD candidates will be allowed one hour and 30 minutes. Negative marking will apply according to the instructions provided in the question paper.

The proposed examination centres are Shillong, Tura, Jowai, Nongstoin and Nongpoh. Once selected, the examination centre cannot ordinarily be changed. Where an insufficient number of candidates select Jowai, Nongstoin or Nongpoh, candidates may be allotted the nearest available centre.
