JNU Recruitment 2025 for Teaching Faculty, Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor Posts

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), a prestigious central university located in New Delhi, has announced faculty recruitment for the year 2025 under Advertisement No. RC/73/2025. The university invites online applications from Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) for the posts of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor across various disciplines and specializations. This recruitment drive aims to strengthen JNU’s academic and research excellence by appointing experienced and qualified candidates with strong teaching and research backgrounds. Eligibility Criteria and Requirement

For the post of Professor, candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant or allied discipline, have at least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals, a minimum research score of 120 as per UGC Regulations 2018, and 10 years of teaching or research experience with proof of guiding Ph.D. scholars. Alternatively, candidates with outstanding professional achievements and significant contributions in their field may also apply. For Associate Professor, a Ph.D. and Master’s Degree with 55% marks are required along with a minimum of 8 years of teaching/research experience and 7 research publications. Assistant Professors should have a Master’s Degree with 55% marks and must have cleared NET/SLET/SET or hold a Ph.D. in accordance with UGC norms.

Education

The educational qualifications vary by post. Professors and Associate Professors must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. For Assistant Professors, a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks is required along with NET/SLET/SET qualification, unless the candidate holds a Ph.D. meeting UGC guidelines.

Salary

Selected candidates will receive pay as per the 7th CPC academic levels: Professors at Level-14 (₹ 1,44,200 – ₹ 2,18,200), Associate Professors at Level-13A (₹ 1,31,400 – ₹ 2,17,100), and Assistant Professors at Level-10 (₹ 57,700 – ₹ 1,82,400).

Age Limit

The official notification does not specify an age limit; however, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria and professional experience requirements as applicable to the post.

Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of ₹ 2,000 is applicable for candidates belonging to General, OBC, and EWS categories. SC, ST, PwD, and women applicants are exempted from paying any fee. The payment must be made online through the CU-CHAYAN portal.

Selection Process

The selection will be based on the screening of applications considering academic credentials and research contributions, followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates.
